Court stops panel from probing Omisore

A High Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered the Commission of Enquiry on Disturbance of Public Peace set up by Governor Rauf Aregbesola to put on hold the investigation of Senator Iyiola Omisore.

The Chairman of CEDPP, Justice Moshood Adeigbe, said at the resumed hearing of the panel in Osogbo on Wednesday that the panel had received an interim order from the court stopping it from probing Omisore, pending the ruling on the application filed by him before the court.

Counsel to the petitioner, Mr. Lekan Olayiwola, urged the panel to allow the petitioner to go on with the hearing of the matter despite the interim order of the court.

Former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State on Tuesday urged the people of the state against voting for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Oyinlola, who publicly declared for the All Progressives Congress at the mega rally of the party held at the Osogbo Township Stadium, on Tuesday, accused Omisore of being selfish.

He urged the people of the state to vote for Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who incidentally, was the one who unseated him from office after a marathon legal battle which lasted over three-and-a-half years.

Senator Iyiola Omisore, candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, has declared that he enjoys a cordial relationship with the immediate former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.



Omisore said this in rebuttal of claims in political circles of a feud between the two prominent members of the PDP, which fuelled claims that Oyinlola was defecting to the APC.
Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s visit to Oyinlola, whose government he criticised heavily when he became governor further fuelled the claims.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has called security agencies in the state to carry out a thorough investigation into the allegation of assassination plot levelled against him by the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Omisore said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday by his media aide, Mr. Diran Odeyemi.

The spokesperson for the APC in the state, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, had on Saturday accused Omisore of plotting to assassinate four leaders of the ruling party in Osun State.
