Farouk Lawan, Sergeant Omeleze & ‘gate fee’ At Ikoyi Prisons



Recently, the video of a policeman, Sgt. Chris Omeleze, who was demanding a bribe, went viral. Nigerians registered their anger and indignation, calling for the head of the man. Predictably, the Nigeria Police Force reacted by sacking the man.

In the last week of July, a Nigerian-born judge in the Gambia was sacked for demanding a bribe from a Dutch businessman in return for a favourable judgment in a land dispute case. Again he was unfortunate to have been caught on tape.

Farouk Lawan, Boniface Emenalo granted bail



Exactly a week after they were arrested and held in prison for collecting N93million bribe from Femi Otedola to remove his company, Zenon Oil, from the list of indicted companies, Farouk Lawan and Boniface Emenalo were this morning granted bail by an Abuja High Court.  The Judge granted the two men bail on the sum of N10 million and asked them to relinquish their international passports to the court. They are only allowed to travel out of the country with the court's permission. The case has been fixed for April 10 and 17 for hearing.

LATEST: Farouk Lawan & Boniface Enemalo Remanded in Prison



Farouk Lawan, the lawmaker and former Chairman of the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy andBoniface Enemalo, former Secretary of the committee have been remanded in prison by an Abuja High Court.
They were arraigned on a seven count charge for allegedly soliciting for and collecting a bribe of $620, 000 from Femi Otedola, Chairman of Zenon Oil.
At the trial which began today, both men pleaded not guilty to the charges. However,Vanguard reports that they were both remanded to Kuje Prison pending the court’s ruling on their bail application.
The court subsequently adjourned till February 8th, 2013 to rule on the bail application moved by their lawyers led by Rickey Tarfa and Mike Ozhekome, both senior advocates of Nigeria.

FG files corruption charges against Farouk Lawan over Otedola bribe



The Attorney-General of the Federation has finally filed charges against Farouk Lawan and Mr. Emenalo Boniface for allegedly collecting bribe from Femi Otedola. The case has been assigned to Justice M.N. Oniyangi of the FCT High Court.
