In a piece titled "The Chameleon in Theodore Orji", former Abia state Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu bared his thoughts about his successor and one time friend, Theodore Orji, calling him a chameleon. In the no-holds-barred piece, Uzor Kalu spoke about how he made Theodore Orji a governor and how his former friend turned his back on him after he became governor. "The first thing that would strike any person meeting Theodore Ahamefule Orji for the first time – 16 years ago – was his humble personality. I doubt if he still carries himself with the same simplicity and can­dour, for which I have known him, now he has tested power as governor. I say so, because power has a way of intoxicating some people, especially those who never dreamed of getting it. I must openly sub­mit that I was taken in by his facial ap­pearance, not knowing that deep inside he was a different person all together – a chameleon. A former Abia State governor, Orji Kalu, has described the ongoing National Conference in Abuja as a home to old men who do not have the strength to decide the future of the nation.

Speaking at the Centenary Lecture organised by the Oyo State branch of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kalu, who delivered a lecture titled, ‘Nigeria: A Nation in Quest of Credible Leadership’, said Nigeria would not move forward unless the first generation leaders withdrew gradually from politics.

Security Agents, Not Boko Haram Behind Bombings – Uzor Kalu

Former Abia state Governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, yesterday absolved Boko Haram of some of the bombings in the northern part of the country blaming it instead on government security agents.

Kalu, who spoke in Abuja when members of the FCT chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) visited him, said the security agencies do this to attract more funding from the federal allocation.

Kalu said people are aware of this but refuse to speak out for fear of being victimized even as Nigerians continue to die as a result of the activities of unpatriotic public officers.
