Obasanjo’s Farm To Generate 30,000 Jobs For Liberians – Minister



Liberia’s Minister of Agriculture, Dr Florence Chenoweth, on Sunday said that Obasanjo Farms in Liberia would create about 30,000 job opportunities for the citizens. Chenoweth made the observation during the dedication ceremony of Obasanjo Farms Liberia Incorporated at Gbah Foboi, Grand Cape Mount County, in Liberia.

She noted that the Liberian government had focused its attention on the agriculture sector in its efforts to create jobs for the people. She, however, urged legislators, chiefs and superintendents from Cape Mount County to advise youths in the area to seize the opportunities presented by the new farm to become productive, while ensuring the area’s development.

FG Considers New Approach To Create one Million fresh jobs Annually



The Federal Government will quickly unveil a new plan that will assist you to create about one million fresh jobs annually.
The Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation, Mr. Obi Adim, who disclosed this during a chat with journalists in Abuja on Friday, said the initiative would address the country's high unemployment rate in a pragmatic way.  Nigeria's unemployment rate, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, currently stands at 23.9 per cent.

Adim, who addressed journalists in company with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Josephine Washima, said already the initiative, Integrated Youth Development Programme, had received a lot of buy-in from stakeholders, adding the entire details of the programme would be released before the conclusion of next month.

Mines Ministry Creates 1.2 Million Jobs, Discovers New Minerals



Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mr. Musa Sada has stated that the ministry has facilitated the production of over six million tonnes of mineral products in the country thereby, creating over a million jobs.
Speaking at the ongoing ministerial platform, Mr. Sada revealed that 1.254 million jobs were created from operations in 1710 quarries, 223 small scale mining operations, 195 mining leases and 2048 exploration licenses.
He stressed the need for professionalism in the industry and listed Ajaokuta Steel Company as one of the companies suffering effects of ‘unprofessionalism’ in the country.
According to the Minister, issues in the company range from infrastructural challenges to privatization, legal issues to change of management and even technical competency.

FG Plans To Create 5m Jobs By 2015 – Aganga



Dr Olusegun Aganga, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, on Thursday said that the Federal Government was working to create at least five million jobs by 2015. Aganga, who stated this in Ibadan at the opening of the 6th National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment (NCITI-06), said it would be achieved with industrialisation of the country.
According to him, the economic transformation of the country requires the support and contributions of every Nigerian.The Minister said the nation had in recent times became the number one investment destination in Africa, saying the country had grown by seven per cent in the last 14 years.

Nigeria: FG Generated 195,534 Jobs in 2012 - Only?




A total of 195,534 jobs were generated last year by the Federal Government via several  contracts awarded by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, disclosed this to journalists at the end of the weekly FEC meeting Wednesday.
Maku, alongside the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Muhammed, attributed the source of the figure to the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu, who briefed council on the performance and challenges of his ministry in the preceding year.
