A Yoruba socio-cultural association, Egbe Ogbomoso Ajisegiri, on Monday, urged the Federal Government to site one federal polytechnic in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, for the purpose of developing the area.
Chairman of the association, Layi Akangbe, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
Akangbe said such institution would not only help to develop the area, but would also help to boost its commercial activities.
He also appealed to the FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed, to assist the association with a piece of land to build its secretariat.
According to him, the association is planning to build a befitting secretariat complex in the nation’s capital to be named “Sohun Ogunlola Centre’’.
He said that the complex would house the secretariat itself, a shopping mall, an event centre, a guest house and sports and games centre.
The chairman of the association also urged political leaders in the country to improve their relationships with the electorate, saying “it is only then that the people will be happy with leaders.’’
The Egbe Ogbomoso Ajisegiri, a non-political socio-cultural group, seeks to strengthen relationships between Ogbomosho indigenes and between the indigenes and other ethnic groups in the country. (NAN)
