"We hope this arrogant and uncompromising position is not backed by a third power, although we have some reasons to think so."
"I cannot escape the feeling that the Ukrainian are either being advised by someone with the aim of making them take irreconcilable positions on all these issues or are intoxicated with success," Lavrov noted, according to ITAR-TASS reports.
"It's a source of worry for us that this impunity manifests itself increasingly often," he said, mentioning repeated arrests of Russian journalists and "the disgusting attack on the Russian Embassy" on Saturday.
One more example are "dogmatic statements of intent to sign the free trade and association agreement with the European Union no later than on June 27, despite the promises concerning the need for Russia, Ukraine and the EU to get together and see what can be done to prevent Ukraine's relations with the EU from contradicting its rights and duties as part of the free trade zone of the Commonwealth of Independent States," Lavrov said.
