French President Francois Hollande has paid his first visit to his official partner Valerie Trierweiler since she was hospitalised in the wake of revelations he was having an affair, his office said.
Hollande visited Trierweiler at a Paris hospital on Thursday evening, six days after she was admitted, a spokesman said.

Valerie Trierweiler has contacted the RTL radio station from the
Salpétrière hospital in Paris, where she was taken on Friday after
hearing about François Hollande's alleged affair with actress Julie
Gayet.
Trierweiler
denied that François Hollande had refused to visit her and insisted
that it was the doctors who had forbidden the head of state to visit
her. She also added that Hollande had sent her flowers and chocolates.
"She is still very tired to the extent that she cannot stand up. Her blood pressure and morale are low but she hopes to leave with her head held high to and is prepared to fight, at least for her dignity," an RTL reporter commented on her statements to the RTL station.
Earlier
on Thursday, different sources reported that Miss Trierweiler was
determined to "stand by her man" and fight to save her relationship with
Hollande, like Hillary Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky affair.
Speaking this week at an annual press-conference, Hollande admitted that his relationship is going through a "painful" moment but said he would not immediately make any more comments on reports of his affair with an actress.
According
to the president it was "neither the time nor the place" for such
questions but that he would clarify the situation regarding Valerie
Trierweiler before a US visit in February.
