Dozens of everyone was injured as significantly more than 130 vehicles were involved with some crashes on the A249 Sheppey crossing in Kent today. The crash which went on for 10 minutes as cars continuously collided together was the result of a thick fog.
One witness said:
The accidents left at the least six people seriously injured and 200 suffering minor wounds. No body is believed to own died in the crash.
See more photos when you continueBased on eyewitnesses, visibility have been very poor at the time of the crash but drivers were approaching the crossing without any lights.
One witness said:
'You would hear the screeching of brakes and then the thud. It was all you may hear for approximately 10 minutes - crash after crash after crash.' The whole top of the bridge is packed with mangled cars and lorries. There are cars with their roofs ripped off - one is five feet in the air. There have been lots of people trapped.'
