Gov Rochas Okorocha To Send Uneducated Traditional Rulers and Igwes To School

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said that all the illiterate traditional rulers in their state would be given the chance to visit school to improve their ability to supply robust service with their people through the Community Government Council (CGC).

Okorocha spoke while addressing the original rulers and other stakeholders at Ahiajoku Convention Centre in Owerri, their state capital. According to the governor, a programme would be introduced next season in tertiary institutions to aid illiterate traditional rulers to obtain basic knowledge in governance.

He said: “Africa and Nigeria particularly can just only develop more if the community government council becomes stronger than the area government; local government stronger than their state government and state stronger than the Federal Government.”

While attributing Nigeria's underdevelopment to overbearing influence of the Federal Government, Okorocha needed the introduction of the CGC in most of the 36 states of the federation to facilitate effective service delivery to the people.

The governor, who stressed that his major achievement was the introduction of the CGC, said it was his wish to develop most of the communities in their state like Owerri. He said that the introduction of the CGC has nothing regarding politics and shouldn't be politicized.

Okorocha also assured most of the communities with Ezeship tussle that his administration would resolve the problem in the next 8 weeks, asking the CGC executives to always work harmoniously among one another for effective service delivery.

He, however, said the Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri, was included in the government's protocol as a result of his (Ohiri's) position because the CGC leader.
