Four varsity students paraded for drug trafficking

•Police recover 33 stolen vehicles
The Imo State Police Command yesterday paraded three undergraduates of the North American University based in Cotonou, Republic of Benin and two others for being in possession of substances suspected to be hard drugs.
The suspects, who smuggled the narcotics neatly wrapped with plastic tapes, were apprehended when they were about to sell the drugs at Nekede in Owerri West Local Government Area.
The command also recovered 33 stolen vehicles and 12 motorcycles in the last two months. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Musa Katsina, said that the university undergraduates were arrested with nine compressed parcels suspected to be hard drugs by the command’s Ambush Squad following a tip off.

According to him, the suspects identified as Ola Abdulgafaru, 22, and Henry Tochukwu, 22, are 200 Level students of North America University.
They live at 3rd Avenue Gwarimpa, Estate in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and are natives of Biniyo community in Eti -Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State and Umuime community in Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State. Adewale Fuhad, 24, is a native of Odogbolu in Ogun State and a 300 Level student of Crescent University, Abeokuta.
The two other suspects, Okechukwu Nwosu, 32, and his brother Ndidi Nwosu 28, are distributors of the hard drugs and they hail from Egbela Umujechi in Umuekwuene, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State.
The police chief, however, expressed the alarm at the rate at which illegal substances are consumed by miscreants, adding that the North American students were arrested as they were on their way to link up with their accomplices (distributors.)
He said: “The rate at which these dangerous drugs are peddled and consumed by these miscreants is alarming, but it explains why they are undeterred vicious and unrepentant in their deadly mission.”
Katsina promised to intensify the campaign against criminal activities. He asked members of the public to come forth with proof of ownership to collect the recovered vehicles.
