KANO—Head of station, Wazobia FM station, Kano, Malam Sanusi Kankarofi alongside two staff of the station have resigned their appointments following the controversy generated by the gruesome murder of 10 health workers penultimate week in the wake of a programme aired by the station which was believed to have triggered the murder
Muhammed Suleiman Gama, the head of the station’s local content has given the station one month resignation notice, while Yakubu Musa the presenter of a popular vernacular programme ‘Sandar Girma’ has equally resigned.
The resignation of the trio came on the heels of the suspension of the programme Sandar Girma by the National broadcasting Commission, NBC, after security agents blamed the broadcast of the programme as having instigated the killings of the female health workers in Kano.
The Police authorities in Kano had arrested Gama, Musa and Mubarak, all of Wazobia FM station over the killings and charged both Musa and Mubarak to court who are currently enjoying bail on a seven counts charge.
Gama who confirmed his resignation to Vanguard stated that “he decided to quit because the management of the private radio station didn’t handle the issue well, accusing them of taking side with an interested party”.
