Europe Acts as Vassal State of Washington in Terms of Sanctions: Former US Official
Many questions have arisen questioning Europe's ability to act independently after US Vice President Joe Biden recently announced that the US had forced EU countries to impose economic sanctions against Russia despite the fact that many of them were opposed to such measures.
The sanctions have more negatively impacted the EU economy, rather than Russia’s, as Russia has other alternative trade partners in the East and in the South American region, said Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan Administration, in an interview to Radio VR. He added that the sanctions could have positive effect on Russia’s economic development as they would make “the [Russian] Government realize that the dependency on Washington and the dependency on Europe is a strategic error of the highest magnitude.”

“It is hard to imagine the Georgians training thousands of Syrian fighters. Most of the training and cooperation will be done clandestinely, given the regional sensitivities and the real threat of ISIS [IS] seeping into the Caucasus … if they are pushed out of northern Syria and Iraq,” Beehner said on Monday.

The man who died thrice and yet liveth!
This is an appeal for help. The story tells of the grace of God and the endurance of love between a man and a woman. I was privileged to witness both aspects as it played out in Garki Hospital, Abuja.
Death Number One
Mr. Ikechukwu Obiora was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed. He was unconscious, desperate and dying. He had suffered a stroke and had rivers of blood inside his brain. After the emergency brain scan, we rushed him into the theatre and put two drains in his head to remove blood clots. This released the massive pressure on his brain. However, he remained unconscious, dead to the world and had to be transferred to the intensive care unit for a machine to breathe for him. We intubated him by passing a tube through the mouth, the neck, his throat and into the lungs. This helped him breathe and so sustained his life.

Growing number of malls threatens small retailers
The nation has witnessed an upsurge in retail malls in recent times but industry watchers say the development has its limitations, MAUREEN IHUA-MADUENYI writes
With a growing middle class, rising economic prosperity and changing demographics, retail malls are daily springing up in major cities across the country.
The retail and wholesale trade sector, according to economists, is a leading sector of the nation’s economy and the second largest contributor to the Gross Domestic Product at 17 per cent per annum.
But there are also concerns that with the estimated 200,000 square metres of retail mall space expected in the next two years, the economy may be exposed to low value addition as well as loss of jobs, especially among start-ups.

ATO
Charitable events continue as a means of supplying aid to troops in the east. Returning troops from the 15th Mountain Infantry Battalion of the 128th Brigade have stated the prime need is for diesel generators, fuel, heaters, thermal underwear and winter clothing. Collections and other actions have raised funds of at least 41,000 UAH (~ $3000) for supplies such as canned food, fast food, coffee and tea. A group of Svoboda supporters have provided a Grand Cherokee Jeep for use in the ATO. This was used to transfer supplies to the front. The local regional coordinating committee has been disbanded, and replaced by volunteers, seemingly part of the 'lustration' process aimed at removing corruption and giving greater transparency.
