Putin accuses EU of blackmail and force against Ukraine Over trade pact



ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the European Union on Friday of blackmail and pressure against Ukraine over its decision to suspend preparations for a trade pact that would have wrested the nation further from Moscow’s orbit.

The former Soviet republic abruptly spurned an historic alliance with its western neighbors on Thursday, suspending an imminent trade pact with the EU and saying it would revive talks on a deal instead with Russia.

A woman had been sleeping next to her dead husband's decomposed corpse for 12 months until authorities made the grizzly discovery this week.

Apparently, 79-year-old “Marcel H.” from Liege, Belgium, died in November 2012 of an asthma attack, according to Carters News Agency. His wife was so upset that she didn't report the death and continued to sleep with the body until Belgian authorities made the bizarre finding on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Tragedy: How Osun Monarch Was Killed, Set Ablaze In Palace



Chiefs and residents of Ilashe Ijesa in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Thursday narrated how the monarch of the town, Oba Adesina Anibijuwon, was killed by suspected members of OPC who were said to have strangled him and left his corpse inside his residence which they set ablaze.
“We were told that some gunmen who claimed to be OPC members came and wanted to see Kabiyesi but they were told that he was sleeping. 
  “They came back and held the housemaid living with Kabiyesi hostage and went to where Kabiyesi was sleeping. But immediately they came out, fire started and Kabiyesi was burnt inside the house.”

The Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Dr Lawan Abubakar has described the media reports that the union had postponed its National Executive Committee meeting indefinitely as false and speculative.
This is even while he dismissed the claim that the union had accepted the N1.3 trillion made available from the Federal Government, saying "what the union is agitating for is the total implementation of the 2009 agreement and nothing less."

Yorubas To Celebrate 200 Years In Ghana



Yorubas from all over Ghana will converge on the Aviation Social Centre in Accra on Saturday, November 23, 2013 to mark the anniversary of the arrival of their ancestors in the Gold Coast 200 years ago.

The Yorubas are an ethnic group found mainly in the western part of Nigeria. Some of their major towns are Lagos, Ibadan, Ilorin, Ogbomosho, Offa, Oshogbo, Abeokuta, Shaki, Oyo and Ijebu-Ode.

Tragedy: Teacher Flogs 4-Year-Old Pupil To Death



Detectives in Ondo State have detained a primary school teacher, Alade Adebayo, for allegedly flogging to death a four-year-old female pupil Elizabeth Wanogha.


The deceased pupil was a student of a private primary school, Falaye Memorial Nursery and Primary School, located at Fanibi area in Akure metropolis. The teacher, according to report, accused the deceased of being stubborn in the class. He was said to have beaten the girl to a state of coma. Cries from other pupils in the class reportedly attracted other teachers who rushed to the scene where they found that the girl had fainted.

The police at Idimu, Lagos, have arrested the wife of a pastor, Mrs. Angela Uzoma, for pouring hot water on her sister.  The 28-year old housewife who is also the women’s leader in her husband’s ministry at Shasha allegedly poured hot water on Chidinma Chukwu, causing her serious injury because the 14-year old Chidinma sold only few pawpaws she was to hawk on the fateful day.
