11 arrested for selling cooked human meat, hotel clossed.



Onitsha Police in Nigeria arrested 11 people after they discovered two fresh human heads in a hotel (name withheld) very close to the popular Ose-Okwodu market in Anambra state on Thursday.

During their search, the Police also found two AK47 rifles and other weapons in the hotel.
The arrest followed tip-offs from residents in the vicinity of the Hotel on Thursday morning. The hotel owner, six women and four men were arrested.

 President Jonathan hosted a special reception in the honour of 2014 CHAN bronze-winning Super Eagles at the State House, on February 13, 2014, Thursday.
The President said he was delighted to receive the Super Eagles, the team which made the nation proud.
"My dear Super Eagles, I keenly followed your performance from the group stage up to the last 3rd place match. "I noted that you epitomized the true never-say-die Nigerian spirit, especially in the match against Morocco's Atlas Lions where you came from a 3-goal deficit to win the match against all expectations," the welcoming message of the President continued.

RIP Goldie: One year later feels like yesterday.



We lost Goldie Harvey shortly after she returned from the US on Valentine's Day 14th February 2013. She was only 31. What a loss!!!  One year later we remember you! RIP Goldie! May her soul continue to rest in peace.

Police Raid & Close Down Restaurant In Nigeria For Selling Human Flesh



Police reportedly closed down a hotel restaurant in Nigeria after it was found to be selling human flesh. Eleven people, including the hotel owner, were arrested.
Authorities were able to recover at least two human heads when they raided the Anambra, Nigeria restaurant after receiving a tip from area residents on Thursday morning.
The fresh heads were found wrapped in cellophane sheets, and police said roasted human head was even on the menu, according to The Mirror.

Weapons, including two guns and dozens of rounds of ammunition, were also discovered.
“We always saw weird people coming and going,” one local resident said.
“Each time I came to market, because the hotel is very close to the market, I always noticed funny movements in and out of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come into the hotel,” a vegetable seller in the area told the Osum Defender. “So, I was not surprised when the police made this discovery."

Dad beats & stabs his 11yr old son to death at sports practice.



 

An 11 year -old boy (pictured above) was completely beaten with a cricket bat and stabbed to death by his dad throughout a cricket education program in the outer Melbourne township of Tyabb on Wednesday.

Man beats girl-friend to death In Anambra State




Onitsha – The authorities in Anambra on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of a 27-year-old man suspected to own beaten his girl-friend to death in Onitsha. The commands Public Relations Officer, Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka, said that the suspect was arrested while trying to escape following the incident.

“A full scale investigation has commenced on the matter to unravel what really happened,’’ Chukwuemeka said.

S.A To Bid For 2024 Olympics Games



JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) -South Africa is to bid for the 2024 Olympics and also wants to host the Commonwealth Games two years before that, the country's sports minister Fikile Mbabula said. "The biggest fish to catch is the 2024 Olympics," the Business Day newspaper on Tuesday quoted Mbabula as saying.
"Sport plays a role in terms of infrastructure development," he told reporters, adding South Africa's president Jacob Zuma had already indicated the country was ready to host the Games. It is a major shift in policy for South Africa who last year said the cost to host an Olympics would be too high.

Governor Adams Oshiomole gives ₦14million to seven widows



Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo state today donated N14million (N2million each) to seven police officer's widows who died in the line of duty. Addressing the ladies, the ladies said he was moved by their plight along with the fantastic service their husbands gave to the state. He also announced that N500,000 would be given to each of the children of the seven police officers. The Governor said he hoped this act would help spur other police officers that are still in active force to become more dedicated to their duties to ensure that posterity would remember them for good.

The Promise GEJ Made Over 2nd Term bid- Obasanjo



Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has joined many Nigerians who have insisted ahead of the 2015 general elections in the country that President Goodluck Jonathan actually entered into an agreement with those in the country's political block, essentially, the Northern political circle. Chief Obasanjo, while answering questions from media personalities, said  President Goodluck Jonathan actually did make a promise to Nigerians to serve only a term in office, NaijaSharpNews Correspondents have reported.
“President Jonathan said, not only once, twice, publicly, not only inside Nigeria, outside Nigeria, that he would have one term, and said that to me,” a report Wednesday by Bloomberg quoted Obasanjo as saying in an interview in London.

Tragedy In Ekiti: Fuel Tanker Explodes Leaving 6 Dead.



A fuel tanker carrying 33,000 litres of petrol exploded in Aramoko Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government area, Ekiti State on Tuesday evening leaving six people dead and destroying homes and property, according to witnesses.
A source said the driver of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tanker lost control of his vehicle after the breaks failed on a sloppy section of the road which links to Ibadan-Ilesa way.

Another witness told Saharareporters, "The next thing we heard after the break failure was a big sound and the tanker had already pulled out from the main body. A heavy thick black spot rented the air, and everywhere was consumed of fire."

Gov.Fashola Receives Africa's Primates, Reaffirms commitment to welfare of Citizenry



Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola(SAN) on Monday received the Primates of the Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa (CAPA) led by the Primate of the Anglican Communion of Nigeria, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, affirming that the development of human beings in terms of their healthcare and education is a commitment that his administration remains bound by.

The Governor who spoke at the Courtesy Call Room of Lagos House, Ikeja, said this informs the way that the government has approached the question of healthcare and education by providing access to healthcare on a social welfare basis where certain services are free especially for pregnant women, young children and adult citizens who are often the most vulnerable members of any society.

An angry mob in Calabar on Tuesday hacked three suspected criminals with machetes almost to the point of death. The criminals reportedly specialises in snatching women's bag. On that fateful day, the criminals had snatched a bag containing an unspecified sum of money from one woman who stepped out of First Bank premises along Calabar Road and sped off. Unknown to them, they were trailed by an unidentified lady who drove behind them in company of others.

Russia's draft resolution on Syria 'a separate document' – Lavrov



Russia’s foreign policy chief Sergei Lavrov has described the proposed draft resolution on Syria as a “separate document.” He stressed the paper submitted today to the UN Security Council did not seek to amend the West’s resolution but offered its own approach to the conflict.

“We have drafted our own resolution that we expect to be discussed in the UN Security Council. It is not mere amendments to the document submitted by Luxembourg, Australia and Jordan, but is essentially our take on the role that the Security Council can play in the settlement, if we mean it, and not just seek to provoke one or the other party,” Mr. Lavrov noted.

Moscow bans adoptions of Russian kids in countries with same-s3x marriages



Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a decision setting limits on adoptions of Russian kids in countries with same-se-x marriages.

According to the documents, posted on the Russian Government website, Russian children can be adopted by heteros-exual married couples of age, with the exception of same-se-x families officially recognized as such under the national legislation, whereby this kind of marriage is authorized, as well as of persons who are the citizens of the country in question and are not married.

Boko Haram Launches fresh assault on Konduga Village in Borno, kills over 40 inhabitants.



 Over 40 people was killed yesterday evening Tuesday Feb. 11th in Konduga village in Borno state by gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram.  The gunmen arrived the village around 5:30pm yesterday and started shooting people. Several houses and school were burnt down based on security officials who visited the village following the attack. One security personnel said he counted at least 40 bodies after an unexpected attack. The attackers met no resistance from security agencies while they carried out their deed. Military men reportedly arrived after the men choose to go and have taken over the security situation in the area.

Ms. Stella Oduah, Minister of Aviation replaced by Minister of State for Trade and Investments, Mr Samuel Ortom. Godsday Orubebe, Minister of Niger Delta Affair replaced by Mr Darius Isiaku
Caleb Olubolade, Minister of Police Affairs replaced by The Minister of State for the FCT, Missus Olajumoke Akinjide. The announcement was made this evening by Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, who said president Jonathan asked the  ministers go after they had 'indicated their interest to pursue other goals in the country'

I’ll leave Nigeria better than I met it –Pres. Jonathan



President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday inaugurated the Nigeria Industrial Revolution Plan and the National Enterprise Development Programme.   He also said the various policies so far put in place by his administration were clear indications that he would leave the country better and stronger than he met it.

Jonathan recalled that prior to the launch organised by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, he had inaugurated the Mortgage Refinance Company, the Dry Season Farming and had also hosted a conference on the private sector financing of the power sector.

NFF begs Steven Keshi to accept assistant coach



AS the war rages over the employment of a foreign or local assistant for Stephen Keshi for the World Cup in Brazil,  the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, yesterday pleaded passionately with Keshi to see reason on the need for an assistant that would add value to his technical bench.

A member of the Technical Committee said yesterday that they have  resorted to begging Keshi because of his huge popularity with Nigerians.
