Four die in Lagos boat accident




No fewer than four persons died in a boat accident in Okera Nla, Ikorodu, Lagos when a boat conveying 22 passengers capsized. Our correspondent learnt that the boat, which took off from Okera Nla, Ikorodu and was heading for Bayeku, capsized at about 7.30pm on Saturday evening. While officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority were able to rescue 17 passengers alive, four had already died, and only their bodies were recovered. 

 Meanwhile, it was gathered that rescue operations were still ongoing in the area. The General Manager, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident, added that one passenger had yet to be seen. He said, “Four bodies were recovered from the boat capsize, while 17 passengers were rescued alive. However, one passenger is still missing. Rescue operations are still ongoing.”
