Flood at Brazil and Argentina border: more than 20 000 victims



The number of victims of severe flooding in the border region between Brazil and Argentina exceeded 20 thousand people, reported the Civil Defense Office of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul on Sunday. According to the Globovision channel, two people were killed in the municipalities of Arroyo del Tigre and Uruguayana, another one is missing, reports RIA Novosti.

Statewide emergency has been declared; the waters affected 78 municipalities. The city of Ithaca on the border with Argentina has suffered more than the others - over 9,000 people left their homes there and Uruguayana (almost 6000 people). Meanwhile, Brazilian forecasters predict a further aggravation of the situation and continuation of precipitations, as well as the temperature reduction down to 6 degrees Celsius.
