US threats of military action follow Cold War logic - military expert

US threats of military action follow Cold War logic, director of Veterans For Peace told RIA Novosti Thursday.

"We are always looking at what the US does when threatening the use of military force and this reminds us of the Cold War era," Michael McPhearson said, commenting on Obama's criticism of Russian 'dark tactics' and 'aggression' during a speech he made to mark 25 years since the fall of communism in Poland.
"The US continues to advocate policies of pushing NATO closer and closer to the Russian border ' and Russia has reacted to that," McPhearson said.
"Both countries have gone back to the old tactics of using military force to get their way. We don't need that in the world and need to find peaceful ways of resolving disputes and stop this saber-rattling," he said.
"It is unfortunate that the US and Russia cannot work together to bring peace and stability to Eastern Europe. Both leaders are playing a game of geopolitics and nobody is fully in the right or fully in the wrong," McPhearson concluded.
Obama was in Poland on a four-day European trip. While in Warsaw, he pledged $5 million of military aid to Kiev, including body armor and night-vision goggles. He also met with Ukraine's President-elect Petr Poroshenko.
