Kiev continues hostilities in south-eastern Ukraine.

Kiev has not stopped hostilities in the east of Ukraine in spite of the announced ceasefire until 27 June, Prime Minister of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Alexander Borodai said at a press-conference on June 24, reports TASS. In the meantime, Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko has confirmed the violation during a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, but saying that self-defenders have broken the ceasefire in the south-east of Ukraine, according to the website of the President of Ukraine.

"Today was just another day of the war. Slavyansk was shelled, as well as the city of Snezhnoye in the Donetsk Region. Recently, fighting began on the outskirts of Donetsk in the area of the airport, with the use of armoured vehicles, cannons and mortar fire," Borodai said.
The Prime Minister of the DPR called Kiev's announcement of a ceasefire ludicrous. "Kiev never meant to stop the hostilities. Both sides have casualties. I can make an official statement that there has not been any ceasefire and it looks like there won't be in the future," Borodai said.
He accused Kiev of hypocrisy because the contact group sent by Kiev has no impact on the situation and no authority. So the rebels have no alternative to fighting, Borodai said.
Chairman of the DPR Denis Pushilin said that Kiev is actually stonewalling the ceasefire agreement.
"Today, soon after the consultation, the troops fired Semenovka village. About five people were killed. A heavy armored convoy has been moving in the direction of Donetsk". "This is just a short list of aggressive actions by the occupation forces on our territory," - added Pushilin.
"That's the price of the agreement with Kiev. We believe that the Kiev authorities consider to be a formality required for signing the economic part of the Association Agreement with the EU", - he said, stressing that Kiev "needs a truce at least officially. "In fact it does not exist," - concluded Pushilin.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko occuses self-defense forces in violation of ceasefire agreement.
In the meantime, Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko has said during a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland that self-defenders violated the ceasefire agreement in the south-east of Ukraine, according to the website of the President of Ukraine. In particular, Poroshenko informed the CE Secretary-General about a crash of a helicopter of Ukrainian Army Forces, with nine on board and the self-defenders’ attacks on the Ukrainian military checkpoints.
Kiev will continue war, obeying US, no matter what Putin says.
Kiev will continue the hostilities irrespective of what kind of statements Russian President Vladimir Putin makes because this is what the US expects, President Rostislav Ishchenko of the Centre for Systemic Analysis and Forecasting told RIA Novosti.
During his meeting with commanders of defence and law enforcement agencies on the night of 24 June, Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko ordered to open fire without hesitation if the rebel troops violate the ceasefire agreement. Poroshenko leaves open the possibility of premature ceasefire cancellation.
In turn, Putin recommended the Council of the Federation (upper chamber of the Russian Parliament) to cancel the 1 March resolution on using Russian armed forces in Ukraine. It was adopted soon after the power shift in Kiev which Moscow considered to be a coup d'etat. The Council of the Federation will discuss the president's request on Wednesday, 25 June. The president's press-secretary Dmitry Peskov said that this is meant to "normalize the situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine and is done due to the beginning of tripartite talks on the subject".
According to Ishchenko, there was no ceasefire in the south-east of Ukraine, hostilities continuously ran their course, so Petr Poroshenko cannot cancel what does not exist. Ishchenko believes that Kiev will keep fighting as it cannot do otherwise. In his opinion, all Kiev leaders can only obey orders from the US, they do not make independent decisions. "Secondly, all armed detachments formed by nationalists, who support the Kiev government do not want any talks. They would rather shift power in Kiev again than allow any talks with the south-east," the expert said. He also stressed that in this situation the civil war "can either result in the victory of one side or international interference and separation of the sides."
Last Friday, after a two-month standoff Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko ordered the armed forces to suspend hostilities until 27 June. The rebels also promised to temporarily cease fire. However, the long-awaited armistice has not come to the region. Shooting continues and the participants in the conflict are shifting the blame to each other's shoulders. Tripartite talks have started between the conflicting parties.
