Weekly Report From Nigerian Police Commands



WEEKLY REPORT FROM COMMANDS: MONDAY 12TH MAY, 2014.

1. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS/RECOVERY OF SCHOOL BUS (FCT #ABUJA): On 06.05.2014 at about 8:30AM, Police received a distress call that three armed men snatched a Toyota Hiace School bus belonging to The Vine International Academy Nyanya in front of the school premises. Vehicle details were immediately dispatched to Police units. The vehicle was later intercepted along Lafia road in neighboring Nasarawa state by Police Patrol team on Stop and Search, two male suspects name Victor Essien 40yrs and Ubong Bassey 49yrs were arrested. Vehicle and suspects handed over to FCT CID for investigating.



2. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (#KOGI STATE): On 09.05.2014 at about 4:20PM, a five-man robbery gang invaded a shop at POWA Shopping complex Okene, Police operatives immediately moved in to cordon the area. Three male members were arrested at the scene and following items recovered from them; one (1) cut-to-size Double Barrel gun with three (3) live cartridges and a knife as well as assorted trousers, T-shirts valued not yet known earlier removed from the shop. Efforts to apprehend other gang members that fled the scene are being intensified. State CID Lokoja is investigating.

3. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS/RECOVERY OF WEAPONS (#RIVERS STATE): On 10.05.2014 at about 4:45PM, Police Patrol team on stop and search along Aba road, Port-Harcourt, intercepted a red Golf car with reg. no. BGM 405 AE with five occupants. Upon a search three (3) locally-made Revolver pistols, the sum of four thousand six hundred and sixty Naira (N4,660:00), two (2) empty wallets, five (5) mobile phones, two (2) wrist watches, four (4) pairs of shoes were recovered from the suspects. State CID Port-Harcourt is investigating.

4. RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECT (#ANAMBRA STATE): On 06.05.2014 at about 1:30AM, acting on a tip-off Police raided a spot at the Onitsha main Market where one male suspect was arrested and two (2) Pump Action guns, one (1) Double Barrel Single Gun with fifteen (15) live cartridges were recovered from him. Suspect is allegedly involved in the sales of arms and ammunitions to suspected armed robbers/kidnappers. State CID #Awka is investigating.

5. RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECT (#DELTA STATE): On 06.05.2014 at about 7:00PM, Police Patrol team along Agbor/Obiaruku Road flagged down a commercial vehicle (make and reg no withheld) for routine search and in the process one sack containing four hundred and twenty-five (425) rounds of live cartridges was recovered therein. One male suspect accompany the sack was arrested and taken into custody. State CID #Asaba is investigating.

6. ARREST OF KIDNAPPERS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (#EDO STATE): On 07.05.2014 at about 8:00AM, Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad tracked down a notorious kidnap syndicate to their hideout where five gang members namely; Osaro Victor ‘m’, aged 29yrs, Smart Uchie ‘m’, aged 26yrs, Osairumhen Ekibise ‘m’, aged 25yrs, Lucky Ekhator ‘m’, aged 25yrs and Ossai Friday ‘m’, aged 29yrs were arrested. Suspects are linked to the 05.05.2014 kidnap of a female victim (name withheld) along Ugbor Road. One Pump Action gun, one Double Barrel gun, twenty-seven (27) live cartridges, one green Toyota Camry car with reg. no. LAGOS MUS 734 CD, one black Toyota Camry car with reg. no. ABC 589 BX and a black Range Rover Jeep with reg. no. BDG 335BD were also recovered from the suspects. State #Benin CID is investigation.

7. RESCUE OF KIDNAP VICTIM/ARREST OF SUSPECT (RIVERS): On 08.05.2014 at a 4:30PM, upon a distress call that a female victim had just been kidnapped at Eleme area by a two-man kidnap syndicate, Police operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene. The kidnap syndicate was tracked down to a bush where the victim was seen with her abductors. Police operatives systematically rescued the victim unhurt, one of the kidnappers was fatally injured in the cause of the rescue operation. One (1) locally made pistol with two (2) live cartridges and the victim’s Tecno phone were recovered from the deceased suspect. Victim safely reunited with her family while the corpse of the hoodlum was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. Efforts to apprehend other gang members are being intensified. State CID Port-Harcourt is investigating.

8. FOILED ROBBERY/ARREST OF armed robbers (#LAGOS STATE): On 09.05.2014 at about 10:00PM, upon a distress call that men suspected to be hoodlums were sighted at Ago-Egun area of Ibiye, Police patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene were four (4) men were apprehended. Upon a search one bag containing four (4) shot locally-made guns with sixteen (16) live cartridges were recovered. Suspects were in the community to carry out robbery operation. One (1) Power Bike reg. no. EPE 378 QB was also recovered from the hoodlums. State CID Panti is investigating.
