The western propaganda and brainwashing of the population is so widespread and the populace so completely under control that even when presented with concrete undeniable facts that run counter to the official narrative the majority of people still refuse to believe.
This has made it a literal information war when it comes to the situation in Ukraine and even the simple fact that there was never an “invasion” of Ukraine by Russia, something egregiously and erroneously reported by the western media, is almost impossible to counter. Russia has not now or ever “invaded” Ukraine or the Crimea, there has been a contingent of Russian troops supporting the Black Sea Fleet there for decades. That is the simple fact."

If western region Ukrainians can do violent protests killing police and destroying govt properties, ask for help and decide to join EU/US is ok, but why the Crimean Ukrainians cannot ask for protection and decide to join the Russian Federation as their nation was invaded with violent protests leading to Coup d'état, provoked, funded and armed by US/EU finally installing an illegal facist interim government? If UN ignores many violation of international laws by US/EU, why they are quick to react to Russia with false charges that they invaded, annex, raided? Is it not clear that they are controlled by US/EU?

RT, a state-funded Russian TV network, is demanding for US Secretary of State John Kerry to apologize for his callous comment about RT being a "propaganda bullhorn." Editor-in-chief of RT, Margarita Simonyan, expressed her deepest regrets about the fact that "the head of the US Department of State is refusing to recognize facts that he doesn't like and makes such ungrounded accusations."In his speech he quotes the ferocious network as Russia Today, when in fact the network changed its name to RT a long time ago. If John Kerry cannot get simple facts straight, that even Wikipedia knows, how can the American people and international stage really believe the rest of the words that fly out of his mouth?
During a news conference at the State Department yesterday, Kerry made it part of his speech to attack RT, a state-funded news network in Russia, deeming it to be a propaganda machine. "We are very sorry that the head of the US Department of State knows so little about the real situation in Ukraine," Interfax quoted RT's editor-in-chief as saying.
"In fact, the propaganda bullhorn that is the state-sponsored Russia Today program has been deployed to promote, actually Russia Today network, has deployed to promote President Putin's fantasy about what is playing out on the ground. They almost spend full time devoted to this effort, to propagandize and to distort what is happening or not happening in Ukraine," Secretary of State John Kerry said in a televised speech, which can be viewed on mediaite.com.
According to multiple sources, RT was previously known as Russia Today, but now just exists as RT. Wikipedia has this on its site but sadly it seems that Kerry never got the memo. In fact, the first few lines about RT on Wikipedia states "RT, previously known as Russia Today, is an international multilingual Russian-based television network created in 2005."
Though, there are plenty of other places that cite this. "MHz Networks broadcast partner Russia Today announced the 24/7 English-language news channel has formally changed the channel name to RT," mhzworldview.org has posted on its website.
A plethora of other reputable new agencies have known about the name change since 2009. "The channel was launched as Russia Today in 2005 (the name change to RT came four years later)," a journalist for newstatesman.com wrote in an online article from last year. What is perplexing is how a man, who is supposed to be getting his facts straight, just does not seem to get it right, the first or even the second time during his speech.
"We are planning to write an official request to the State Department for concrete examples of when RT has distorted facts,” said Simonyan, according to an article on RT's website. For the time being, there has been no formal response to Simoyan's reaction to Kerry's bitter words by neither the US State Department nor from Kerry.
Hopefully, Kerry will learn from his gaffe by apologizing for messing up a well-known network name. However, it is doubtful he will as the man does not seem to have an elegant way with words, probably leaving a lot of people feeling uneasy. A bigger question that should be asked is how long Americans can put up with Kerry's inaccuracies. If he thinks RT still holds onto the name Russia Today, he is living in the past. It does not seem like the political realm really needs someone like Kerry who is thinking backwards and messing up on simple details.
