Draw for first Lagos Homes scheme, very transparent - Home Winners

Winners who emerged as home owners during the first historic draw of the Lagos Home Ownership Mortgage Scheme (HOMS) held at the Blueroof Hall in LTV Complex have described the process of applying for a home and participating in the draws as very transparent.

Speaking with newsmen after their names were picked in the public draws, one of the winners, Mr. Abayomi Sylvester Akitoye who won a three-bedroom flat at Alhaja Adetoun Mustapha Estate, Ijaiye said the process was very transparent.

According to an elated Mr. Akitoye, when he first came across the adverts for the housing scheme, he did not think it was real but still went ahead to fill the forms on line and that he felt good that his name was announced as a winner during the draws.

He advised all those without a home in Lagos to apply for the scheme and not regard the homes as not being affordable to low income earners because statutory requirements and documents like Certificate of Occupancy and several other permits come as a part of the package which is an added advantage.

Another winner, Mrs Bibian Kanayo Aloba who won a three-bedroom flat at the Oba Lateef Adams Estate, Iloro, Agege said she was quite happy with the outcome of the draws which selected her as one of the winners.

She added that she was convinced to participate in the home ownership processes because of her belief in Governor Babatunde Fashola as a very transparent leader of a government who could be trusted.

Mrs. Aloba explained that she did not have to get acquainted or familiarize with any official of the Mortgage Board or the State before her application was treated and she was selected for the draws.
Another winner of a three- bedroom flat at the Oba Lateef Adams Estate, Iloro, Agege, who also spoke with newsmen, Mrs. Aderele Ayoola- Johnson described the whole process leading to the pre-qualification and the draws as very transparent.

She said when she visited the offices of the Mortgage Board; the officials acted very professionally and answered all her questions satisfactorily. She described the home ownership Scheme as a very good initiative of Lagos State.

She described the mortgage payment process as very convenient and one that would give more people the desired opportunity to become home owners in Lagos.
