A pregnant woman who was in labour and a good Samaritan who tried to save her life have been killed in the Warri area of Delta. The woman was said to have been waiting for a taxi to take her to a hospital for delivery when she was attacked by a man believed to be a lunatic. The incident occurred along the Mac-Dermott Road axis of the town and the unidentified man, who tried to shield the woman from her attacker, also lost his life.
The Sun reports:
Daily Sun gathered that the suspected lunatic rushed at the woman and a young man, who wanted to protect her, was first stabbed to death.
Sources told Daily Sun that people were ‘scared stiff’ of the assailant who brandished other dangerous weapons. The pregnant woman, said to be in her early thirties, was rushed to a nearby hospital but she later gave up the ghost.
It was further gathered that the husband of the deceased expectant mother was not at home when the incident happened. Meanwhile, the remains of the victims have been deposited at a hospital morgue even as residents of the area are gripped with fear.
