An explosion has reportedly ripped through the occupied Trade Union Headquarters in the Ukrainian city of Kiev that has been shaken by months of violent opposition protests. This is according to the press office of the Ukraine’s Interior Ministry.

According to a police report, a local hospital alerted the law enforcement to man who had been brought into healthcare with hand and eye injuries. The victim was in serious condition and unconscious. His identity has not been established.  Doctors said the man was wounded in an explosion after he allegedly opened a suspicious box he found on the fourth floor of the Trade Union House in Kiev that has been held by opposition forces.
The police are now trying to establish the man’s identity, although far-right activists who have occupied the building refuse to let them in.  The Trade Union HQ at the Independence Square in Kiev was one of the first government buildings to give in to an opposition siege.
