Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deploys Police To University Campuses



The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered the deployment of adequate security around University campuses nation-wide.A statement by theForce spokesman, Chief Superintendent of Police Frank Mba said,
 “This was created to help secure life and property in the Ivory Towers and provide enabling environment for lecturers, students, academic and non-academic staff to start their lawful businesses without let or hindrance.”
Mba said,
“The directive is just a proactive and confidence-boosting measure designed to ensure nothing untoward happens within our academic communities.”
“Consequently, the IGP has directed all Command Commissioners of Police to personally, oversee the intensification of surveillance activities around Universities of their State Commands.

 They are to take all necessary security measures needed to provide for the safety and security of staff and students along with property within the various Campuses,
” he added.“Meanwhile, lecturers, students and indeed all Nigerians within the Institutions are advised to remain law abiding and start their legitimate businesses without anxiety about molestation or intimidation from any quarters.” the Police statement said.
