ABEOKUTA — The Poultry Association of Nigeria, PAN, in the South West has stated that researches have shown that drinking of raw eggs could reduce the risk of breast cancer in women, saying that there was no relationship between the consumption of eggs and heart diseases.
The body also argued that there was no link between the consumption of eggs and the amount of cholesterol in the human body system. Addressing the media during the World Eggs Day in Abeokuta, weekend, PAN Chairman in the South West, Dr. Olufemi Faniyi, his Ogun State counterpart, Dr. Olalekan Odunsi and a veterinary surgeon, Dr. Jide Oluwawemitan blamed the medical professionals of misinforming the general public about the function of eggs
Continue after the break.According to PAN, the amount of cholesterol in eggs could not influence a growth in the amount of cholesterol in the torso system. The body argued so it have been scientifically proved that eggs contain better quality of animal protein than that within beef, fish and pork. Faniyi stated that the bigger consumption of eggs in countries such as for example Japan, Mexico and the United States of America had increased the rate of life expectancy higher than the usual country like Nigeria where in fact the citizens consume less amount of eggs.
“If a woman can drink six eggs weekly, there is a probability of the reduction of the risk of breast cancer by 44 per cent,” Dr. Oluwawemitan said.“It's been proved that egg contains better quality of animal protein than beef, fish and pork. It includes plenty of vitamins and minerals for brain and memory to operate better.”-
