NSCDC Shut Down warehouses over petrol theft

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed off two warehouses for receiving stolen petrol and has recovered 6,050 litres of petrol in Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Clement Adesuyi, on Monday said the anti-vandal unit of the corps mounted surveillance in the area and observed the illegal activities booming in the area.
He said the sealed warehouses were among the many operating in the area, adding that the corps would soon identify others and seal them off.

Adesuyi said, “We have sealed off two warehouses where vandals discharge petroleum products. The anti-vandal unit of the NSCDC mounted 24 hours surveillance in the area and our officials were able to locate these warehouses.
“The first warehouse had three different containers, where 54 kegs of 50litres filled with vandalised petroleum were stocked and the second had 67 kegs of 50 litres.
“On sighting our men, the vandals ran to the creek, entered their engine boat and escaped. No arrest had been made.
“There are a lot of vandals in that area and we will ensure that their practices are brought to a stop.”
Adesuyi urged the residents of the area to report the vandals to the corps.
Public Relations Officer for the state’s command, Chibuzo Mefor, said it was unfortunate that the community was not willing to expose the vandals. He urged them to give meaningful information to the corps.
He said, “We learnt that vandals have been successful because of the help of some collaborators from the community and some security operatives.
“We plead with  the community to provide meaningful information to the NSCDC to ensure that oil theft is reduced to the barest minimum.”
