16-year-old who killed boy, 8, gets life in prison without parole

A 16-year-old, who went out looking to kill and murdered a random 8-year-old, will be jailed forever.
Trevor Reese of St. Francisville, Louisiana, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Reese had initially pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but later changed his plea to guilty. He was found guilty of second-degree murder for the killing of 8-year-old Jackson “Jack” Attuso.
Continue.....Attuso was on a bike ride with his family in St. Francisville, Louisiana, when he became separated from his mother and brother as they rode ahead of him. Reese emerged from the side of the bike trail, and he stabbed the 8-year-old repeatedly in the back and the chest. In a final blow, the teen slit the young boy’s throat.

After a long and drawn out case, Reese was sentenced to life in prison without parole. District Attorney Sam D’Aquila said that the sentencing hearing was held under a new law, which allows juveniles who committed serious crimes to be sentenced to life in prison.

D’Aquila said experts testified that Reese is exceptionally intelligent and he seemed that he went out to the bike trail looking to kill someone.

The boy’s grandfather read a statement in court. He told Reese to remember the face of the child whom he killed and said: “I want you to see his face every night. This is the curse that I put in you.”
Both families will deal with this tragedy for the rest of their lives.
