The Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the death of a 13- year old boy who allegedly committed suicide when asked to go and read his books.
Speaking yesterday in Ibadan, police spokesperson, Olabisi Clet-Ilobanafor, a deputy superintendent of police, said the boy (name withheld), hung himself on March 31 at about 6.15 p.m.
Clet-Ilobanafor said that one Bamigboje Zachaus of E7/854, Aiyekale Agugu area of Ibadan, reported the incident to the police.

According to the police, Mr. Zachaus claimed that he noticed that his family friend’s son was not seen at the passage where he was ordered to go and read his books.
