The police prosecutor, Inspector Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the defendant committed the said offence on January 24, 2013, at Charity Bus Stop, Oshodi, at about 5a.m. He said the defendant, who is an ‘area boy’, along with others now at large, attacked one Juliet Ibekeme.

Unuigbe alleged that the defendant, armed with a black toy gun, robbed Ibekeme of one Nokia 6070 valued at N27,000; jewelleries worth N10,000; cosmetics valued at N5,000; and a cash sum of N6,000.
According to Unuigbe, the alleged offence contravened Sections 1(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision, 2003.
However, when the charge was read to the defendant he pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge but was denied bail.
Magistrate Mrs Sule-Hamzat, remanded the defendant in prison custody pending legal advice from the Director, Public Prosecution DPP.
She further adjourned the matter to March 19, 2013, for DPP’s advice.
