Four men in possession of what is suspected to be adulterated diesel have been arrested by the officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Osun State.
While Agboola Abiodun and Oyedeji Abiodun were arrested in Omo-West area of Osogbo, the duo of Tolawo Kehinde and Kareem Taju, were nabbed in Ile-Ife.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr Ayodele Olowo, on Thursday said Agboola and Oyedeji were picked up while siphoning adulterated
diesel into a truck with registration number Lagos XW 321 EKY, adding that the suspects had mixed diesel with kerosene.
“Twenty-eight kegs containing 1, 000 liters of kerosene, 12 kegs containing 300 litres of adulterated diesel, two pumping machines and a long hose were recovered from the scene of the crime,” the statement said.
Tolawo and Kareem were, however arrested at Oduduwa University junction in Ile-Ife with a truck bearing 10, 000 litres of petroleum products suspected to be adulterated diesel.
NSCDC said, “The suspects, who were driving a truck with registration number XD 464
MAP, claimed to have loaded the petroleum product from a private depot in Lagos.
“They were suspected to have diverted the suspected adulterated product from Ibadan and were heading for Akure before nemesis caught up with them.”
The statement said they would be charged with improper documentation, diversion of petroleum product and trafficking in adulterated product.
