Group threatens to sue MTN For Poor Services

The South-South Youth Leaders’ Forum said it had concluded plans to sue a telecoms firm, MTN Nigeria, for continued poor services being rendered to the citizens.
The group explained that it would not remain silent and watch MTN deliver substandard telecoms services to the South-South people and Nigerians in general. Speaking with journalists on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, the Chairman of the forum, Mr. Odiedim Amachree, said that the service provider was operating dual standards.

Alleging that the firm had compromised efficiency and best standard practice, Amachree said the poor services worsened during the Yuletide.
He said the group had observed that on severally occasions, the Nigerian Communications Commission had sanctioned MTN but did not bother to ensure that the company complied with its directives.
Amachree said, “All is now set to stop MTN’s protracted poor service delivery in Nigeria, as we prepare to sue on behalf of ourselves and other South-South youths, who are using the MTN network.
“The truth must be told that the government will not do everything for us, especially when there is already a framework to handle issues of this nature through the instrumentality of the law.”
In a statement, which he signed on behalf of the group, Amachree called on Nigerians who had suffered one loss or the other as a result of poor service delivery from MTN to support the forum’s planned legal action.
He urged Nigerians to always protect their rights and drop the attitude not showing resistance anytime their rights were being trampled upon.
