Forty-eight hours after a renowned Benin-based estate surveyor, Dan Odiete, was kidnapped in Benin City, the Edo State capital, unknown gunmen again struck in the evening of Friday, abducting a generator magnate and hotelier, Uyi Olotan, popularly called Uyi Technical, killing his  police orderly in the process.
Two other police orderlies, who were reportedly shot during the attack are said to be receiving treatment in the hospital.

THISDAY gathered that the yet–to-be identified gunmen had laid siege on a  Mission-Road office which is close to his office, before attacking him while on his way out at about 6 pm.
On the day of the attack, Olotan who is also a major dealer of KIA Motors, was said to have closed for work at about 6 pm as against 5 pm that he usually closes for work. An eye witness told THISDAY in Benin that the abductors shot sporadically into the air to forestall any resistance, adding that the resistance put up by the two police orderly could not withstand the superior fire power of the hoodlums who killed one of the policemen on the spot.

When contacted Saturday, Edo Sate Police Command spokesman, Anthony Airhuoyo,  said he could not give details of the incident until he has been briefed by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area.

The Edo incident came as gunmen killed a member of Katagum Emirate Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Abbas, the  Majidadin Katagum in Azare, headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi state.

Another set of gunmen suspected to be armed robbers also attacked the residence of the Technical Engineer of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Misau office,  Mohammed Dahiru Shehu, in Bauchi and carted away his vehicle, a Toyota Sienna and other valuable properties.
