Three Police Men Killed as Gunmen Attack Yobe Police Station




The spate of attacks in the North continued yesterday as suspected Islamist gunmen attacked a police station in Yobe state killing three officers and stealing guns and ammunition. Lt. Eli Lazarus, spokesman of the Joint Task Force security outfit in Yobe State, confirmed the killings in a statement in Damaturu, the state capital. Speaking with newsmen, Lazarus Eli said “In the early hours of today, gunmen attacked the police station at Bonny Yadi in Gujba Local Government Area.

 Three policemen were killed and some arms carted away”. He said the JTF drafted its personnel to the area to beef up security to forestall further attacks in the area. The gunmen allegedly stole 25 AK-47 assault rifles, eight short guns and large quantities of ammunition, a police source disclosed.
