Buhari not mediating between Boko Haram and government – CPC

The news is a ploy to tarnish
Buhari’s image, CPC says.
Nov. 2 (PREMIUM TIMES) – The opposition Congress for progressive change party, CPC, has said the emerging media link between its national leader, Muhammed Buhari, and a planned parley between Boko Haram and the Nigerian government is aimed at tarnishing his image.

The party denied that the terrorist group appointed Buhari, to mediate between them and Federal Government in a planned peace process.
The Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Rotimi Fashakin, said this in a statement on Thursday.
Mr Fashakin told PREMIUM TIMES that Buhari has never been contacted by either Boko Haram or government to mediate any talks.

Mr. Fashakin said that the news is a “cheap propaganda” by the ruling party, People’s Democratic Party, PDP. to tarnish the “quintessential image” of its leader.
“We call on all Nigerians to reject this latest deceptive ploy by this PDP-led government and demand for more transparency in the governance of the Nation.

The CPC insisted that the ruling party is the mastermind of the insecurity ravaging the nation. The party insisted that there are three variants of Boko Haram with the government running at least one variant.
“From recollection of events of the last two years, there are three variants of the Boko-Haram: the original Boko-Haram that is at daggers drawn with the Nigerian authority for the extra-judicial killing of their leader; the criminal Boko-haram that is involved in all criminality for economic reasons and of course, the most lethal of all, the Political Boko-Haram-which this PDP-led Federal government represents,” the party said.
The party said Buhari has never been directly or remotely connected with any insurrection or insurgency against the Nigerian Nation and her people.
