Crowned in September for having the biggest biceps in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records, Egyptian body-builder Mustafa Ismail recently proved to the whole world that his 31-inch biceps are real.
The 24-year old Ismail, commonly referred to as “Popeye” was occasionally accused of manipulation by
using surgical implants to inflate his muscles. He then set himself for a Japanese doping test to disqualify the claims against him. He passed.
Doping in sports usually refers to the process of using drugs enhanced to build up muscles in athletes.
According to Japanese doctors, there were no surgical scars found in the Egyptian “Popeye’s” arms that may strip him off his title.
The body-builder agreed to undergo medical tests to prove his muscles were real as rumors surfaced suggesting otherwise.
“I agreed to do it. I am nothing but proud of what I have achieved as an unknown and amateur bodybuilder,” Ismail said in an interview with The Sun.
Besides working out twice a day by lifting a staggering weight of 500 kilograms of gym irons, the record-holder earlier stated that genetics may have affected his muscles as his father was an Egyptian wrestler.
According to previous reports, the measure of Ismail’s biceps can be compared to that of a grown man’s waist.
In an interview with the UK daily, The Sun, in September Ismail said that he spent 10 years of gym-training to build up his muscles. He added that the decision to make them bigger was pushed by compliments from friends.
‘Big Mo’, as his friends call him, eats two kilograms of chicken, beef and fish in his six meals a day to maintain his biceps’ size, added the report.
