Video: Daughter receives beating of her life from Mum for Posting Semi-N*de pics on facebook




 A video showing a mother from Trinidad and Tobago whipping her 12-year-old daughter with a belt for sharing sexually explicit pics of herself on Facebook has gone viral, sparking a conversation about corporal punishment. 


Last Sunday, a video was posted on Facebook showing Helen Bartlett, a mother of four from Point Fortin, beating her daughter while hurling profanities at her. The 6 minute clip shows the angry mum raining blows on the girl , who whimpers in pain. Oyinbo people feel the beating is shocking and call it child abuse but we're Africans and some or most of us have somehow seen or experienced worse.

“Last Thursday, I returned from work around 7.30pm and met my children and wife outside. There was power failure on that day so everywhere was dark. I asked after Amarachi but my wife said she was probably in our apartment sleeping.
“I was not satisfied with this explanation because my children don’t usually sleep early. When I went up, I did not see my daughter so we started asking around. Some little children in the compound then told me that Gbuchenge had called my daughter earlier to help him buy akara. 

Child killer/r*pist tortured and raped in prison in Brazil by 20 men




 A Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor named Daryell Dickson Meneses Xavier was reportedly beaten and raped by 20 men after he was locked up for allegedly killing and possibly raping his girlfriend's 1year 11 months old son (pictured with him left) in Taguatinga, suburb of Brasilia, Brazil in Sept 2013.

According to local media, trouble started for the man after his girlfriend left him alone with her son. A few hours later, he called his girlfriend claiming the boy fell and was having seizures. The child was rushed to the hospital and died two days later. Doctors who didn't believe the boy fell called the police and told them they suspected foul play because the injuries on the boy wasn't consistent with a fall but with blunt trauma, and also said possible sexual abuse was involved.

Fresh trouble appears to be brewing for the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CB₦), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, as the Federal Government has discovered how he spent the sum of ₦1.3 billion for personal aircraft charter in 2013 alone.

Indeed, investigations revealed that the budget for the CBN governor’s aircraft charter was adjusted twice in the year with a proviso for further expenses which are being investigated.

UK, US join search for abducted schoolgirls



Britain and the United States of America have joined the search for the 234 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno, by the Boko Haram sect, SUNDAY PUNCH can authoritatively report.
The girls were kidnapped in their hostel on April 14 after members of the sect, pretending to be soldiers, lured the pupils away from their hostel before setting it ablaze.

About 30 of the girls escaped from captivity while about a dozen, who fled into the bush when the sect attacked the school, have since returned to the school. The military had initially claimed that it had rescued all but 18 of the girls but the school principal, Asabe Kwabura, debunked the statement.

One of Nigeria’s finest pilots, Captain Sabo Sambo, died on Sunday in an auto accident on the airport road in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Captain Sambo, 60, was the younger brother to the Vice President, Namadi Sambo.

He was on his way to catch a flight when his tire punctured. His car was said to have hit a tree and went up in flames.

Mulitple accident cause terrible traffic gridlock on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway



 Vehicular lockjam happens to be being experienced on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway particularly at the Shagamu axis. This is the result of a multiple accident that occured today involving a commercial bus, petroleum tanker and a trailer.

South Africa celebrates 20 years anniversary of apartheid's end



South Africa on Sunday celebrates the 20th anniversary of its first ever all-race, democratic election that ended decades of sanctioned racial oppression under the apartheid system. The day will be marked by street parades, speeches, prayers, music and military salutes and displays. After the historic April 27, 1994, the day has been retained as a holiday and named Freedom Day.

President Jacob Zuma leads the main festivities at the Union Buildings, the seat of government in Pretoria, where generations of apartheid leaders penned many of the racial laws that South Africa's first black leader Nelson Mandela fought most of his life.

Lagos exemplary approach to food production



The recent disclosure by Lagos State government to expand its forays for enhanced agriculture productivity through the acquisition of farmland in Northern region of Nigeria for crop and livestock production is quite laudable and commendable. We recall that only recently the State acquired farmland in the States of Ogun and Osun as well as in the Federal Capital territory (FCT), Abuja for agricultural production. The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperative, Gbolahan Lawal made the disclosure while briefing the media on the activities of his ministry. He explained that the decision was reached owing to the shortage of arable land in Lagos State to boost food production.

APC members plan mass defection in Ogun, Oyo, Edo



Aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress are preparing to ditch the party, following disagreements over the recently concluded ward congresses.
It was learnt that the party’s chapters in Edo, Kaduna, Oyo and Ogun states appeared to be the worst hit, as members had inundated appeal committees with protests over the congresses.

“At first I was shocked when I received the nude photos. I wanted to seek legal action, but later realised they were underprivileged Kenyans desperate to make ends meet. Nyanya, Abuja Blast - Lagos NURTW Moves To Install CCTV At Motor Parks



To forestall tragedies at major motor parks in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre, the Lagos State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is finalising plans to install Circuit Camera Televisions (CCTV) at its motor parks.  According to Chairman of the union, Mr. Tajudeen Agbede, security officers would, in addition be appointed for the parks, while appoint security officers would also be formally trained on best methods to secure the parks.
“The union has agreed to appoint a chief security officer in each of its units across the state to beef up security, so as to prevent such experience in Lagos,” Agbede said in reference to the blast in Nyanya Motor Park on April 14, which resulted in the death of more than 80 people and injuries to at least 124.
