Nigeria fails global energy equity test – WEC



The World Energy Council has said Nigeria has not performed well in the global energy equity ranking.
This is according to the WEC’s 2013 Energy Sustainability Index, a global ranking of 129 countries based on their performances on the three aspects of the energy trilemma.
The index ranks countries in terms of their likely ability to provide sustainable energy policies through the three dimensions of the energy trilemma: Energy Security, Energy Equity, and Environmental Sustainability.

How Obasanjo received rumoured involvement of son, Gbenga



Fears on Thursday gripped many residents of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital following rumours of the involvement of Gbenga, the first son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the crash of the Associated Airline plane in Lagos.
The news which was first circulated through the social media filled many residents of the state capital with fears and apprehension as many started mourning with the Obasanjo family over the tragedy.

Agagu to be buried in hometown on Friday




The remains of the former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, will be buried in his hometown, Iju Odo, Ondo State, on Friday, despite the plane crash that occurred on Thursday in Lagos when the corpse was being conveyed to Akure, the state capital. The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the 2012 election in the state, Mr. Olusola Oke, said this in Akure after holding a meeting with the family members of the former state governor.

Ọmọ Oódua Blog has since found that contrary to Melaye's information, Agagu's wife had gone ahead to Akure before the corpse and WAS NOT on the ill fated plane.

#LagosPlaneCrash: Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Releases The Names Of Survivors & Dead Persons



An Associated Airline jet was carrying seven crew and 20 passengers heading to Akure, Ondo state for the burial of former Ondo State governor, Olusegun Agagu, who passed away September 13, 2013.

Agagu’s family members and Ondo state officials were in the plane. Two of Agagu’s children, a son and a daughter, did not survive. However, ex-governor’s wife was not in the plane crash; she and Agagu’s brother, Femi, arrived Akure earlier in a separate flight.

We can work with the President tomorrow but we must see a change agenda from him”. The relationship between President Jonathan and Gov. Amaechi began deteriorating in early 2013 because of Gov. Amaechi’s personal political ambitions.

Just In: Plane Crashes At Lagos Airport [Photos]



 There's been information that a plane crash has occurred at the Lagos airport.
It's not yet known if there has been any casualties.
In accordance with a witness, the crash occurred at the area wing of the airport near the section were JET-A1, plane fuel, is stored.
Fire service officials were seen evacuating the occupants of the plane.
The spokesman of the Nigeria aviation agencies, Yakubu Datti, called for additional time to get details of the incident, Premium Times reports.

Catholic Priest Nabbed For Molesting and Rá*ping Over 20 Children



A priest has been reportedly arrested and is now facing charges for rapé.
75-year-old Father Robert Brennan allegedly s-éxually assaulted over 20 children.
He was arrested under the charges of rapé, involuntaryf deviate s-éxual intercourse, and aggravated indecent assault in connection with incidents between 1998 and 2001. The victim was 11 to 14 years old.
The allegations include oral sé-x and digital penétration, or finger penétration.
According to allegations from a male victim, he said the priest routinely touched altar boys inappropriately in exchange for candy or prizes.
Lawyer, Marci Hamilton represents the current victim, now 26 years old, and two other alleged victims.

Thugs Cause Disruption At Redeemed Church Construction Site



Members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, who started construction a new 3-kilometre auditorium for the church at Agufoye village were chased away by a large group of over 40 armed thugs.   The trouble has started, it was gathered, when fraudsters obtained a survey plan and
invited land grabbers to claim a portion of the land which the Redeemed Christian Church of God had earlier bought for N215 million.


Two Ogun State Government receipts dated July 22nd and 29th, 2009, serve as the evidence for purchase.  The land was also allocated to the church for 99 years by the Ogun State Bureau of Lands and Survey, Abeokuta, in July 2009.

Woman stabs husband in the butt after he comes home late

Police were called when a woman stabbed her husband after he came home late. Police and emergency workers in Ferndale, Michigan, were called at about 10:25 pm, on reports of an injured man.

Police found the man bleeding from the upper leg and buttocks at the motel. Yvette Raylene Jones, 49, told police her husband fell on glass and hurt himself.

MAKURDI—The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, has declared the President Goodluck Jonathan’s proposed National Conference as another dummy by the presidency to deceive Nigerians.
According to them, ”the process will definitely be manipulated by the government to suit their own purpose. The fact is that, at the end of the day, it will turn out to another jamboree and avenue for people to make money from the system.”

Lagos State Almost Self-Sufficient In Power Generation – Fashola



Lagos State Government has said its energy reform initiatives are yielding positive result with the state close to being self-sufficient in its power needs.
To this end, it said a number of public institutions was being moved out of the national grid and connected to the power being generated from the power plants built by the state government.

No to ‘extension of colonialism’: Gambia dumps British Commonwealth.




Gambia has withdrawn from the Commonwealth, a collection of 54 nations made up largely of former British colonies, saying it will “never be a member of any neo-colonial institution”.
In an unexpected announcement broadcast by the west African nation on state television on Wednesday it was not immediately clear what prompted the decision to leave the Commonwealth, which is headed by the Queen.

Moscow police detained 16 Nigerian students over Embassy violence

Moscow police have detained 16 Nigerian students accused of smashing furniture inside their country’s embassy, reportedly in anger over unpaid grants.

The 16 suspects were removed from the embassy building at the request of Nigerian staff, Russia’s interior ministry told local media.

All of them are enrolled at colleges of higher education in Russia, it added.
