Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola,
and Senator Iyiola Omisore on Saturday night stormed a popular prayer
mountain at Otan Ayegbaju in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of the
state to offer prayers to God. The governor is a devout Muslim while Omisore is a Catholic. But both of them went to the prayer mountain, known as Oke Maria, for the annual pilgrimage and to pray to God to grant their desires.
Omisore attended the vigil after he had
declared his governorship ambition at a well-attended ceremony in Osogbo
where he levelled allegations of financial impropriety against
Aregbesola.

The Obama administration has eased the rules for would-be asylum-seekers, refugees and others who hope to come to the US or stay here and who gave "limited" support to terrorists or terrorist groups.
The change is one of President Barack Obama's first
actions on immigration since he pledged during his state of the Union
address to use more executive directives. The department
of homeland security and the state department now say that people
considered to have provided "limited material support" to terrorists or
terrorist groups are no longer automatically barred from the US.

Swiss voters on Sunday backed proposals to reintroduce immigration quotas with the European Union, Swiss television reported - a result that calls into question bilateral accords with the EU and could irk multinational companies. While neutral Switzerland is not a member of the EU,
its immigration policy is based on free movement of citizens to and from
the EU, with some exceptions, as well as allowing in a restricted
number of non-EU citizens.
That pact on free movement of
people, which came into force 12 years ago, was signed as part of a
package of agreements with the EU, some of which could now be in danger
of unravelling, to say nothing of the effect on a globally oriented
economy that employs large numbers of foreign professionals.

DSS apprehended Three Students For Alleged Cultism In Osun

The boy, Rilwan Olaniyi was not detained on police orders or discretion. He was detained on court order. For the avoidance of doubt, when the unfortunate crime was committed by the boy last year 2013 (not 5 years as erroneously broadcast) the aggrieved parent of the deceased through their lawyer took the case to court without recourse to the police.Continue

A cursory spool-back of political trends from the first republic to the present dispensation reveals a rather peculiar but factual mass movement of the people from one political party to the other as it suits their purposes: the First Republic was an all Action Group (AG) affair - what else with the enormous influence of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his progressive-minded disciples?Despite the national outreach of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the second republic, the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) was the party to beat as it maintained its firm grip of the old Western Region in the so-called LOOBO States (Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Bendel and Ondo).

In the suit filed at the Federal High Court, Ilorin, on Friday, the state chapter of the PDP and a suspended member of the assembly, Iliasu Ibrahim, prayed the court to declare the seats of the 21 lawmakers vacant. One of the passengers who spoke with Saturday Tribune said the about 31 passengers of the plane were already seated before the incident.
“We first observed that engineers were frantically fiddling with the plane’s engine. Then we suddenly saw smoke. It is not funny at all. All of us, including a senator, rushed out of the plane.
“We were subsequently evacuated by airport officials. As I am speaking with you now (8:30p.m.), we are waiting for another plane from Ilorin, which we have been promised will take us to Ibadan. We thank God,” she said.

Rivers state Police Commissioner Joseph Mbu redeployed
The Police Service Commission has announced removing the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Joseph Mbu. The controversial officer has been posted to the Federal Capital Territory. He is likely to be replaced by Johnson Ogunsakin, the commissioner in control of the Special Fraud Investigations Unit in Lagos. Two women have been arrested and jailed for trafficking kids and making them beg on the streets of Lagos with artificial wounds.
The Family Court 1 in Yaba Magistracy has jailed two women for trafficking and using children to beg for alms in Victoria Island area of Lagos.
The women, Amarachi Eke from Imo State and Chioma Eze from Awka in Anambra State, were arraigned at the court on Wednesday on a two-count charge of using underaged children to beg for alms. And they pleaded guilty to the charges.
