Nigeria not using force-based approach on insurgents, Abati tells U.S.

The presidential spokesman said this at a press conference in Abuja.
The Presidency on Friday refuted a statement credited to the U.S. Embassy that Government was adopting a force-based approach in addressing the current security problem in Nigeria.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, stated this in an interview with State House correspondents in Abuja on Friday.
“It is not true that the administration is adopting a force-based approach. The approach to the insurgencies by the government has many dimensions.
“One of those dimensions is the consideration of the option of dialogue and what has become known as amnesty.

Actor Solomon Akiyesi tells his own side of the story

By now actor Solomon Akiyesi needs no introduction...:-). He's finally telling his own side of the story. In a statement he released to Sunnewsonline.com, he said his first wife, Ezinne was deceitful and greedy, and that if he hadn't left Lilian his second wife, he would have committed suicide. But Uloma, the 3rd woman he attempted to marry, gives him true love and inner joy. See what he said below..
Over the last one week, hell has been let loose on me. I’ve not only suffered verbal attacks, but also vituperations and near fisticuffs, all because of another futile attempt of mine at my journey towards achieving that which I honestly and passionately desire – a peaceful home and family. Social network sites and blogs have been awash with how I left Lilian, my “pregnant” wife, to marry Uloma, my Lagos “mistress” whom they also claimed was pregnant for me. Nothing can be farther from the truth.
Only a mad or cursed man would simply leave his pregnant wife and elope with another one. And lest I forget, I urge you, as you read this, to have an open mind to listen to that which is true instead of taking sides and jumping into wicked conclusions with its attendant wicked insults and uncouth commentaries about how Solomon is running his life and how he is not. I’m not asking for pity or trying to buy anybody’s love at this time.
It gets more interesting. Continue reading After The Break.

You Have My Full Support, Pres. Jonathan Tells Keshi

What looked like a replay of defining moment of the Westerhof era when some sports administrators in the country were bent in frustrating him, happened yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja when President Goodluck Jonathan assured Keshi of his full support.
Westerhof was reported to have complained to IBB when he had opportunity to meet with the former head of state that ‘the boys’ at the NFF would not allow him to work due to their unnecessary interferences. This, it was gathered made IBB to give the former Eagles handler direct access to the presidency for every assistance he needed to discharge his duties. Some close watchers of the unfolding event during and after the Afcon 2013 were of the opinion that this was what Coach Keshi had planned to achieve with his purported resignation – to have direct access to the presidency.

Insult: You’re a failure, Obasanjo tells Okorocha

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, described Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, as a “failure.” Obasanjo said this just as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, likened the current crisis rocking the ruling party as a “surgery” which must bring some pain to members.
Obasanjo who was responding to guests who spoke during the grand finale of a civic reception organised in his honour by the South West Zone of the PDP said there was no way he could associate with Okorocha who had jokingly referred to the former President as his “colleague.”

Sack Workers To Save Economy, Sanusi Tells Govt •Says 36 States Unsustainable; 774 LGAs Waste Of Public Funds

Mallam Lamido Sanusi.  Source
GOVERNOR of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has asked the Federal Government to downsize the labour force if it must achieve anything meaningful as far as economic resuscitation is concerned in the country.

Sanusi, who also insisted on total fuel subsidy removal, took a swipe at the Nigerian political system, asking for an inexpensive government system that will bring down overhead cost and liberate capital for infrastructural development. These calls were made during his presentation at the second Annual Capital Market Committee retreat that was held on Tuesday, in Warri, Delta State. To Sanusi, it is illogical for a country to have its economy developed when it spends 70 per cent of its revenue  in servicing salaries and gratuities of workers.
