Policeman Among 5 Killed as JTF, Gunmen clash




Five people including a policeman and suspected Boko Haram members died at the weekend during a clash between the military Joint Task Force (JTF) and the Islamist sect near Potiskum in Yobe State. JTF spokesman in Yobe, Lt. Eli Lazarus said the task force conducted a ‘cordon and search’ in Yindiski area in Potiskum, at about 2pm on Saturday, leading to a bloody clash between the soldiers and Boko Haram, noting that five persons were killed while 59 suspects were arrested.

Wife Of Conductor Killed By Policeman Seeks Justice





Kafayat Adeoye, whose bus conductor-husband, Kazeem, was shot dead by a trigger-happy policeman on November 7, 2012, at Tipper Garage, Ketu, Lagos, over N50 change, has called on police authorities to ensure that justice is done. Kazeem was shot dead by a policeman attached to the Mopol 50, Abuja, Corporal Oluwakiyesi Adegboyega,  Kafayat and her husband had a seven-year-old son.  PUNCH Metro tracked down Kazeem’s wife on Saturday; at the time of the incident, no one knew the deceased’s family.
Kafayat stated that she was more devastated because her husband was killed by a policeman who is paid to protect members of the public.

Fashola Arrests Policeman Riding ‘Okada’ On Express Way





Governor Fashola earlier today ordered the arrest of a policeman riding a motorcycle on Lagos/Abeokuta expressway.  The governor spotted the policeman when his convoy was passing on the Ikeja section of the expressway. Policemen in the governor’s convoy effected the arrest and immediately whisked him away in their van.

Revealed: Policeman Molests Woman In Presence Of Crying Baby




A police corporal with the Imo State Command is currently in trouble for molesting a nursing mother, who had gone to the station to seek refuge.

Saturday Sun gathered that Mrs. Maureen Anyalebechi, from Umukabi  Autonomous Community, in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, Imo State, had, on November 10, 2012, gone to Umuguma Police Station to pass the night, when she could not locate the residence of her brother in the World Bank area of Owerri West Local Government Area.

Policeman killed conductor over N50 change – Eyewitnesses




Contrary to earlier report that a policeman shot dead a bus conductor for stepping on him on Wednesday, eyewitnesses said the policeman allegedly killed the conductor over N50.

A SIM registration agent at Tipper Garage Bus Stop, where the incident took place, Segun Lafiaji, said he was standing about 50 metres to where the young man was shot dead.

He said, “I don’t think the boy could be more than 21. After the policeman had alighted from a danfo, he asked the conductor for his balance of N50. But the conductor said he did not owe him.

Police dismiss Sergeant who ordered students lynched

THE police on Thursday said the policeman involved in the killing of the four students of the University of Port Harcourt in Aluu, Rivers State, Sergeant Lucky Orji, had been dismissed from the force.

The spokesman for the police in Rivers, Mr. Ben Ugwuegbulam confirmed to our correspondent in Port Harcourt that Orji had been dismissed and that he was among the 13 suspects arraigned in court on Wednesday.

“He (Orji) was among those arraigned in court yesterday (Wednesday). He is no longer a policeman because he has been dismissed,” Ugwuegbulam said.

The four male students, Lloyd Toku, Ugonna Obuzor, Chiadika Biringa and Tekena Erikena, were beaten and set ablaze by a mob suspected to be residents of Omuokiri Aluu, a community located about three kilometers to UNIPORT.

Thirteen suspects, including the traditional ruler of the community, were arraigned in court on Wednesday.
