Viewers Discretion Advised: Man crushed to death by mast during heavy rain



A 52 year old man identified as Adeolu Adeleke was crushed to death at Marina Car Park, Lagos Island, on Friday May 10th during heavy rain when a communication mast fell from a 2-storey building and crushed him to death.  The roadside trader met his untimely death as he went to protect his wares from heavy rain and winds. He'd dashed across the street to fetch something to cover his wares but the mast fell on him as he made his way back to his shade. See more photos after the cut. *viewer discretion advised*

Why Security Situation Was Better During Our Time – Atiku



Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has described the current wave of insecurity in Nigeria as worse than the Nigeria Civil War, which lasted for three years.
The former Vice-President said on Friday that the situation was made worse due to President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration’s lack of attention to security of lives and property.
Atiku made this known on Friday in an interview with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation monitored in Kaduna.
He said, “All you see today are security men with guns, which should not be the case.”
He said the dimension of today’s security challenges makes it hard to tackle because the money meant for the purpose had been allegedly stolen.

FOR REAL ? In Nigeria, 1 in Every 13 Women Die During Childbirth





The United Nations has 1,000 days left to achieve its Millenium Development Goals, which include targets to reduce poverty, increase education and improve health. In Nigeria, the U.N.’s World Health Organization says one in every 13 women die during childbirth, making it the country with the second highest rate of maternal mortality in the world. The government is making an effort to reduce the problem sending hundreds of trained midwives to different parts of the country.

14 Suspected Terrorists Killed During JTF Onslaught In Kano





At least fourteen suspected terrorists including one woman and one female child have been killed during a raid by operatives of Joint Task Forces (JTF) at Ryan’ Awaki area at Unguwa Uku in Kano State, North West Nigeria.
According to residents of the area, at about 4AM Sunday morning, the compound housing the suspected terrorists was invaded by the JTF, and what ensued were heavy sounds of gun shots and explosion which lasted for over four hours.

Bombs explode in northeastern Nigeria city during meeting of political opposition parties





MAIDUGURI, Nigeria –  Witnesses say several bombs have exploded in a northeastern Nigeria city which is hosting a meeting of opposition political parties. The blasts happened Thursday afternoon in the city of Maiduguri, long under assault by a radical Islamic sect known as Boko Haram. A security official said he believed some soldiers were killed in the blasts, but did not have any other information. The official spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to journalists.  The All Progressives Congress, a recently announced amalgam of opposition parties in Nigeria, was holding a meeting Thursday in the city that had drawn powerful politicians. Meanwhile, police in the eastern state of Taraba said foreigners working for a construction company escaped a kidnapping attempt Wednesday night that killed two police officers.

Niger Delta university student killed during cult initiation




The Bayelsa State police command yesterday announced the killing of a 200- level student of petro-chemical engineering of Niger Delta University, Amasoma, Mr. Tariebi Tyger, during a forceful initiation exercise by some unidentified cult group...


 According to the police, the 21 years old undergraduate was wooed by the cultists but he turned them down. He was later forcefully taken from his hostel and an initiation exercise done. The police public relations officer, Mr. Fidelis Odunna, told Edification sources that though the police had arrested persons suspected to have taken part in the murder, it gathered that the victim passed out during the heavy beating meted out during the initiation and died.

Pastor Turns Magician: 4-Month Pregnancy Instantly Disappears As Prophet Performs Miracle Abortion During Service



In an unprecedented move, Kingdom Embassy founder Prophet Passion Java allegedly performed an abortion miracle when he prayed for a four months pregnant woman and the pregnancy disappeared.
The miracle was said to have been performed last Saturday at the corner of Leopold Takawira Street and Kwame Nkrumah Avenue where the youthful prophet conducts his church services.
A local tabloid reports that its news crew did not witness the miracle as it arrived a few minutes later. However the congregation was still celebrating the abortion miracle and the unidentified woman was lying prostrate on the floor. In the same service, other congregants claimed to have received miracle money. When the lady was given time to share her testimony she had tears of joy.

Man Stabbed During Thre*some After Refusing To Change S*x Positions





A threesom* tryst turned into a disaster when a man was stabbed after refusing to change positions.
Orlando DeWitt was allegedly stabbed in the arm by Ashley Hunter, whom he had previously met in prison, reports The Smoking Gun. The tryst went down Feb. 8, after the two men left a bar and went back to Hunter's house for a party.
According to reports, DeWitt told police that he and a female partier began kissing on a couch, when Hunter joined in. The woman “began to perform oral s*x on Hunter" while DeWitt had intércourse with her, but when Hunter asked to switch positions DeWitt refused.

Viewers of a Swedish news channel got more than they bargained for while watching a sober report on Syria’s president Bashar al-Assad, as a porn film played on a studio screen in the background.   The incident took place during a Monday broadcast on 24-hour Swedish news channelTV4 News as the presenter was interviewing the station’s Moscow correspondent.

Angry Man Kills Girlfriend During Argument





A shamba boy killed his lover in Nakuru, Kenya following an argument by hitting her with a blunt object on the head before he presented himself to his employer. Sarbei chief Samson Towett confirmed the incident and said that the man had been involved in a row with his lover which turned violent and the boy hit his lover with a blunt object which killed her instantly.  The man went to his employer’s house after the incident and narrated the whole incident. His employer called neighbors and the area chief who together were led to the scene of the incident.  Towett said that they alerted officers from Menengai police station who arrived at the scene and arrested the shamba boy.  Police confirmed that he will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.

The woman’s body was taken to Nakuru Hospital mortuary.

A physically challenged trainee pastor, Adebayo Kehinde, 19, will have to explain the circumstances surrounding the death of a member of his church, known as Tobi. The deceased was said to have attended a night vigil supervised by Kehinde in a church at Iree in Osun State when he had three successive epileptic seizures and died.

The deceased was said to have attended a night vigil supervised by Kehinde in a church at Iree in Osun State when he had three successive epileptic seizures and died.

Before his death, Tobi was a student of a polytechnic in the state and a sickler. CRIME DIGEST gathered that he had suffered epileptic seizures since he was born 23 years ago.
The police in Osun arrested Kehinde over the incident. His father, Mr. Samuel Kehinde, said he was away from home when he learnt of the incident.
