Navy Uses N45, 000 Bait To Arrest Employment Syndicate Members



Three members of an employment syndicate have been arrested by the Nigerian Navy in Abuja.
The Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Unit at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Commodore Segun Adebari who paraded the suspect said they fell for a bait of N45, 000 which they wanted to personally collect.
This is coming at the heels of many cases of job scam into military and paramilitary organisations in Nigeria.

House Committee Orders Arrest Of 3 Top NNPC Staff Over Missing Funds Running Into Billions Of Dollar



House of Representatives Committee on Public Account has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, to arrest and bring before the committee, the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engineer Andrew Yakubu, the Executive secretary, Petroleum Products Price regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Mr Reginald Stanley, and the Director Department of Petroleum Resources, Mr Augustine Olorunsola.
This is as a result the refusal of the trio to appear before the committee to defend the multi-billion dollar Auditor-General of the Federation query dated back to 2007. The IGP has therefore been given an ultimatum to ensure that the three individuals were brought before the committee in person by 1.00pm today.

Police Arrest UBA Bank Robbers With Assorted Arms And Ammunition




Three suspects out of the 13-man armed robbery gang that attempted to rob an old generation bank in Ajao Estate, Lagos at the weekend have been arrested by the Lagos State police command.
Members of the state’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested one 27-year-old Olubode Mudashiru, Gbenga Joseph, 48-years old, and 28-year-old Tunji Bamidele with assorted arms and ammunition.
SARS men, led by their commander, Mr. Abba Kyari, a Superintendent of police recovered three AK 47 rifles, nine AK 47 Magazines fully loaded and three locally made double barrel pistols.

Police Detained Senator Yerima Over Comments On Radio



The police on Saturday arrested former Governor of Zamfara, Sen. Sani Yerima over alleged “inciting’’ comments on a live radio programme run by Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Olufemi Adenaike , led policemen in six hilux vehicles to surround the radio station and arrest the senator immediately after the Hausa programme, Hannu Da Yawa, at about 12:30 p.m.
Though Mr. Yerima was allowed to drive in his car to the state Police Command Headquarter, his car was sandwitched by the police vehicles.

Nigerian Police make mass arrest over Kwara CP’s murder



The Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday said it had raided criminals’ hideouts and made random arrests in its investigations of the murder of Kwara State police commissioner, Mr. Chinweike Asadu, last Saturday.
    The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tonye Ebitibituwa, who announced the arrests declined giving the number and identity of those arrested. The PUNCH  however learnt from residents of Nike in the Enugu metropolis, where the late police boss was gunned down, that over 500 youths of the area had been picked.
     A resident of the area, who refused to give his name for fear of police harassment, said, “All the youths in this area have been arrested and detained in many police stations in the state. Over 500 persons have been arrested in this area.”

Police arrest prophet, other for possessing human parts



Two men, including a prophet of a white-garment church have been arrested for being in possession of human body parts.
We  learnt that the suspects were arrested on Saturday in Ikotun area of Lagos State.
It was learnt that one of the suspects, Kunle Olaide, who was carrying a polythene bag, was accosted by some policemen attached to the Ikotun Division.
The source said,  “Policemen attached to Ikotun division accosted Olaide and another man on Saturday morning with a bag. All of a sudden, one of the men ran away.

Police arrest 25 Abia varsity students over cultism



Police in Abia yesterday exhumed the body of a 400 level law student of Abia State University, Mr. Obinna Obasi Awa from a shallow grave where he was buried in a farm around the university community settlement in Uturu, Abia State. Obinna Awa, the second son of an Abia-based lawyer, Barrister Awa Obasi, was said to have died after undergoing rigorous ritual exercise, following his intention to join a cult in the school. B

Don’t blame Ajimobi for Folarin’s arrest – ACN




Action Congress of Nigeria on Sunday said Oyo State   Governor  Abiola Ajimobi  should not be blamed for Thursday’s interrogation of the former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin  by the police, the News Agency of Nigeriareports. Folarin was interrogated by the police for close to four hours over alleged plans to disrupt the peace in the state. Also, his Ibadan home was reportedly searched by the police. The ACN,  in a statement  by its  Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Dauda Kolawole, said Folarin  the Peoples Democratic Party chief, should stop blaming others for his problems.

Austin Ndife, 21, Nigerian footballer dies of cardiac arrest abroad





Another Nigerian football player reportedly died of cardiac arrest in Nepal on Monday. The player identified as Austin Ndife, 21, was said to be in Nepal on trials and is yet to sign for any club. Reports say he had a heart problem for two weeks before he died while on admission at the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, Bansbari.

Nkiru Slyvanus Updates: Police Arrest 16 Suspects





Imo State Police Command yesterday said it has arrested 16 suspects in connection with the kidnapping of Nollywood actress and Special Assistant to the State Governor on Public Affairs, Nkiru Sylvanus.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Vitalis Onugu (DSP), disclosed that the suspects were arrested in a raid of suspected kidnappers’ dens in the forest, adding that they were already assisting the police in its investigation.
Meanwhile, the state government has directed security agencies to arrest any unauthorised person found using siren and vehicles with tinted glasses. Rising from a security council meeting, the state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, said the renewed war against unauthorised use of siren and tinted glasses was part of the stringent measures adopted by the council to checkmate crime in the state, especially during the Yuletide.
Also, members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Southeast Zone, demanded the immediate release of the actress. Members of the actors’ body, led by its National Vice President, Southeast, Ikechukwu Ezenagu, a legal practitioner, barricaded the entrance of Government House displaying placards with various inscriptions which include, “Southeast governors give Nollywood actors security,” “Insecurity is the bane of investment in the Southeast,” “Turn away from kidnapping and join Nollywood,” among others.

Tambuwal Signs Arrest Warrant For Sanusi, Yakubu, 14 Others





Following the adoption of a motion moved by chairman, House Committee on Finance, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin (PDP, Kano), on matters of urgent public importance, informing the House of failure of revenue collecting agencies to honour their several invitations and provide details of their Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) as part of the 2013 budget revenue frame work, the speaker of the Huse of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, yesterday, signed a warrant of arrest on heads of the affected agencies.

Baba Suwe Yet To Receive His N25m From NDLEA One Year After Arrest





On October 13, 2012, Nigerian actor and movie producer Babatunde Omidina better known as Baba Suwe was taken into custody and detained by officers of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency under the assumption that he was in possession of hard drugs believed to be cocaine. Baba Suwe was arrested at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, on his way to Paris, France to attend a naming ceremony of an Air France staff scheduled for Saturday, October 15, 2011. He was supposed to be the master of ceremony at the event.

Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Serial Murderer, Robber





The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Ibrahim Balogun, a 25-year-old man accused of perpetrating a series of murders in Somolu, Bariga and Fadeyi in the state. PUNCH Metro had reported on June 25, 2012, that Balogun also known as Small Jpron, was declared wanted following a gang-related violence between Shaggy Boys and Downtown Boys which left at least five people dead in Ilaje, Bariga.
