GEH, FFK in closed-door meeting



President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met behind closed doors with a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Fani-Kayode, who is one of the major critics of the Jonathan administration, attended the meeting which was held inside the President’s office with an unidentified man.
He, however, told state house correspondents at the end of the meeting that lasted about an hour, that there was nothing unusual in his visit to  the President, saying he was delighted he did so.
“This is a Presidential Villa, the President is a President of Nigeria and every single person in this country that is a Nigerian is entitled to come here from time to time, when the doors are open to come and pay their respect to the wonderful people that are here. As a Nigerian, I have done that today and I am delighted to be here,” he said.

SLS drags GEJ to court over suspension



The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, has dragged President Goodluck Jonathan before an Abuja Federal High Court in a suit he filed to challenge his suspension from office.
In the application filed on his behalf by his lawyer, Kola Awodein, SAN, Sanusi is asking the court to restrain the President, the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police from giving effect to his purported suspension from office as the CBN governor, pending the determination of the suit.

GEJ is surrounded by ‘incompetent’ frauds – SLS



LAGOS (AFP) – Nigeria’s ousted central bank chief Lamido Sanusi on Sunday described the president who ousted him as a simple man trying to do well who has been undermined by incompetent and fraudulent aides.
“When you sit with President Goodluck Jonathan himself he appears a nice simple person who is trying his best to do his best,” Sanusi told AFP in an interview. “His greatest failing obviously is that he is surrounded by people who are extremely incompetent, who are extremely fraudulent and whom he trusts.”

2015: President Jonathan woos traditional rulers in APC states



President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday met some traditional rulers in All Progressives Congress states in what appeared to be  political consultations ahead of his declaration of interest in the 2015 presidential election.
Jonathan visited the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade; the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; and the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akinlolu, in their palaces.
A Presidency source, who confided in SUNDAY PUNCH, said the visits were more political than courtesy visits.

President open to reconciliation with Obasanjo –Presidency



The Presidency on Sunday said President Goodluck Jonathan was favourably  disposed to mending fences with former President Olusegun. The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak,  made this known on Sunday just as  The PUNCH  gathered that the  feud between   Jonathan and Obasanjo was   adding to the worries of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The sour relationship between the duo became public knowledge in December 2013 when Obasanjo wrote a letter titled “Before it is too late” to Jonathan.  In  the letter, he accused the President of condoning corruption, training snipers, putting some persons on a watch list and engaging in other acts capable of destroying the country. Jonathan replied Obasanjo openly, saying  his  letter  was    designed to incite Nigerians   against him.

President Goodluck Jonathan again on Friday strike back at former President Olusegun Obasanjo within the 18-page page he wrote in which he accused the President of deceit, deception, dishonesty, incompetence and clannishness among others.
It would be valued that on Sunday Jonathan responded immediately  toObasanjo's letter, calling it full of lies.

FFK Lambastes Pres.GEJ Over Reply To Ex-Pres. OBJ's Letter




An associate of Ex-Leader Olusegun Obasanjo, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, has defined the response of Leader Goodluck Jonathan to Obasanjo's page as shallow. Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, mentioned that during a phone meeting with a national daily yesterday while responding to Jonathan's reaction to Obasanjo's letter. He explained, 
"It is inadequate, shallow; it is inconsequential and it lacks merits. If he ( President Jonathan) is waiting for an apology from former President Obasanjo for raising fundamental questions about his administration, our nation and the welfare of our nation, he would wait forever."

Obj Visits Jonathan in Nairobi



President Goodluck Jonathan and former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, had breakfast together in Nairobi, Kenya, on December 12, 2013, Thursday.  Both politicians were among other African leaders that graced the 50th Independence Anniversary celebration of Kenya at the Safaricom Stadium in Kasarani, Nairobi, on Thursday, December 12.

Obasanjo's visit was said to have taken everybody by surprise as it contradicts the expected nature of the relationship between both men, owing to recent public criticisms of the President by Obasanjo.

Jonathan Returns from London, Claims he Received Stella Oduah Panel Record.




President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday confirmed his meeting of the band of eight governors who're estranged from the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) may hold this week despite the seeming escalation of the crisis involving the governors and the party.  Addressing reporters shortly after he arrived at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International from London, President Jonathan also proved bill of the record of the committee he set up to examine the purchase of armoured vehicles by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority theoretically for the minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah.

Beg Pre. GEJ , OBJ Advises G7 Govs




Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo advised the seven “rebel” governors to find a way to beg and reconcile with President Goodluck Jonathan.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan welcomes Nigeria’s election today to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council with a total of 186 out of a possible 193 votes.
On behalf of the Federal Government and people of Nigeria, President Jonathan wishes to convey his sincere appreciation of the support of all member-countries of the United Nations who voted for Nigeria’s election to the Security Council.
The President believes that today’s endorsement of Nigeria’s candidature for the Security Council seat by the vast majority of member-countries is a glowing expression of support and encouragement for Nigeria’s active participation in the promotion of  peace, security and political stability in Africa and other parts of the world.

President: I never said I wouldn’t contest 2015 election



President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said contrary to reports making the rounds, he had never at anytime promised that he would not contest the 2015 presidential election.
He also denied the claim by Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State that he signed an agreement with some Peoples Democratic Party governors for only one term in office. He challenged anybody with a copy of such agreement to produce it.
Jonathan was fielding questions from a panel of journalists during the Presidential Media Chat in Abuja on Sunday.

GEJ meets Babangida, Ciroma in counter-offensive



President Goodluck Jonathan – faced with the G-7 governors challenge and the uprising in the ruling party – has launched peace drive, reaching out to key Northern leaders.

The President has met secretly with former Finance Minister Adamu Ciroma, who is also the Chairman of the Northern Political Leaders Forum(NPLF), and the ex-Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.
