APC visits Obj



Leaders of the All Progressives Congress will visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo today, punch correspondent has learnt. A leader of APC, who pleaded anonymity, told punch correspondent on Friday that some leaders of the party, including some of its governors will meet Obasanjo at his home in Ota, Ogun State.
At the residence of a former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, former Head of State and a chief of APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, hinted that the next stop of the party’s leadership in its visits to notable Nigerians would be Obasanjo’s residence.

PDP appeals To House to Sack 37 members Who Dumped PDP For APC

The Peoples Democratic Party has appealed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, to help sack the 37 members of the House who defected from the ruling party to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

APC set to meet OBJ soon - Buhari



The leadership of the All Progressives Congress is to meet with former President Olusegun Obasanjo to explain the reason behind the formation of the party. A former Head of State and a chief of the party, Gen.  Muhammadu Buhari, said this in an interview with journalists at the residence of a former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja on Wednesday.
Buhari said the leadership of APC had been visiting other notable Nigerians and that it was time to also pay a visit to Obasanjo.  
He said,  “We have been visiting others like the G7 Governors; we have visited former heads of state, and we intend to visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo any time he is available, to ask for understanding and brief him on why we formed the APC.”

APC`s call for President Jonathan`s impeachment irresponsible, says PDP



Abuja – The People’s Democratic Party P) has described the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) party’s call for the impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan as irresponsible and immature.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Olisa Metuh, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

Metuh said that the call by the APC was part of the party`s larger agenda to truncate the country`s democracy.

Here are some pictures from the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress march taking place at INEC HQ, Abuja. The APC says the protest to INEC headquarters is to join up its disapproval of the Commission's chain of problems in performing recent elections, including the ‘inconclusive'Anambra Governorship poll. They're demanding the termination of Anambra gubernatorial poll.   The protesters were stopped with a detachment heavily armed policemen who prevented them from achieving the INEC offices. Protesters include former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu, former military mind of state, Muhammadu Buhari, and Chief Bisi Akande.

Anambra poll a mockery of democracy, says Ngige



 Senator Chris Ngige, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress has indicated that his party will challenge the outcome of the Anambra State governorship elections at the election petition tribunal.

He described the election yesterday as a mockery of democracy.

On the Verge of Losing, APC Announces Boycott of Anambra re-Run





All Progressives Congress (APC) Sunday said it will not take part in the re-run election going on in some areas where voters were disenfranchised in Saturday’s governorship election  in Anambra State.
The re-run election is scheduled for today in 56 wards in Obosi, Idemili North Council Area of Anambra State.But the party’s governorship candidate in the  Saturday election,  Senator  Chris Ngige who addressed a press conference in Awka  Sunday described the  entire  election as a charade.

Amaechi’ll soon dump PDP – APC



The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Lai Mohammed, on Saturday, said the party was optimistic that the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and other rebel Peoples Democratic Party governors would join APC.
Mohammed told our source that they were still waiting for Amaechi to get back to them after consulting with President Goodluck Jonathan as he promised.

Buhari, Tinubu invite Amaechi to join APC



A former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and ex-Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday renewed their calls on Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi to join the All Progressives Congress. Buhari and Tinubu, who led a team of top APC officials to Port Harcourt for a rally, described Amaechi as an asset to Rivers people and Nigeria.

Presidency dares Amaechi to join APC



The Presidency on Wednesday said Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State was at liberty to dump the ruling Peoples Democratic Party for the opposition All Progressive Congress.
Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, said this in an interview with our correspondent. Gulak was reacting to a statement credited to Amaechi that he would consult Jonathan before joining the APC.

APC calls plot to force Amaechi to resign ”last desperate act”




The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the reported plot to abduct, blackmail and force Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers to resign from office, calling it the last desperate act of those who are bent on getting rid of the Governor at all costs.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said that the plot, which was exposed by the Rivers Peoples Forum, should be taken very seriously, against the background of a similar occurrence in the past and the outcry by Gov. Amaechi that his life is in danger.

APC blast FG over ‘plot to break ASUU’




All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Federal Government of employing “cheap and ludicrous strategy” by utilizing market women, religious leaders and students to put strain on the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to call off its strike.

APC, in a record in Lagos, yesterday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, stated that the strike, that is now in its fourth month, could have ended by now if the Federal Government had pursued its negotiations with ASUU with half the power it had been using to rally various groups to protest from the union.

APC condemns Jonathan’s wife’s honorary degree



 The All Progressives Congress has said the decision of the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, to receive a honorary doctorate degree from a South Korean university while Nigerian universities have been shut for months was the height of insensitivity.
This was contained in a statement signed by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday.

APC zones vice presidency to South-West •Tinubu shops for nominee



THERE are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has zoned its Vice Presidential slot to the South West while the Northern part of the country is to produce  the presidential standardbearer of the party.

The national leader of the party, Senator Bola Tinubu is also reported to have abandoned his rumoured vice presidency bid and is now said to be shopping for the right nomination to team up with whoever emerges as the party presidential candidate.

Blood Pool in Abeokuta as APC factions clash




No fewer than 40 persons sustained various level of injury on Friday within a bloody clash between rival factions of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ogun state. The fracas, occurred around 4pm at the state Secretariat of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) , one of the legacy parties that fused into APC at Leme along Abiola, Abeokuta. The party's Secretariat which includes been repainted in APC colour was damaged although some cars parked in leading weren't spared as members of the factions used guns, cutlasses, broken bottles in addition to other dangerous weapons freely during the clash.

APC asks Fashola, others to woo ‘rebel’ govs



The leadership of the All Progressive Congress has directed its governors to enter into talks with their aggrieved counterparts in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
The 11 APC governors, including Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, it was gathered, had been asked to use their contact and speak with the governors on the possibility of defecting from their party.
Seven  PDP governors are at loggerheads  with the leadership of the PDP over the running of the party and other issues.

2015 Elections: No zoning in our constitution –APC



The All Progressives Congress has said that its presidential candidates will emerge through transparent primaries.
  The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who stated this in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents, said the party would neither give preference to any zone nor fix positions for candidates from any part of the country for the 2015 general elections.

 Mohammed was reacting to a report that the APC had zoned the presidency to the North and the vice-presidency to the South-East. The report  had said that  the party  zoned the vice-presidency to the South-East to break the stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party in the area.
