Reebok drops Rick Ross after date rape lyric controversy



It's finally happened. Athletic wear company Reebok has officially dropped Rick Ross as the face of Reebok Classic in the wake of controversy over lyrics he contributed to the Rocko tune "U.O.E.N.O,
where the Maybach Music mogul boasted about drugging and raping a woman. He spit:
“Put Molly (Ecstasy) all in the champagne.  She ain’t even know it.  I took her home and I enjoy that.  She ain’t even know it.”
Rape survivors and women right groups launched a petition and media campaign asking Reebok to drop the rapper, despite his many apologies. Reebok released a statement today saying:
"Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand.  Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so."Reebok goes on:  "While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse.

Nigerians complain of discrimination in Mumbai, India

Africans staying in and around India's commercial capital, Mumbai (Bombay), complain of indiscriminate racism and constant police harassment, reports the BBC's Zubair Ahmed.


Nigerian Sambo Davis is married to an Indian woman and lives in Mumbai. All his documents are valid, but he was arrested by the police recently on suspicion of being a drug dealer.

Gunmen Kill Four Borno Government Officials



Gunmen, suspected to be members of the insurgent Boko Haram, on Tuesday evening killed four officials of the Borno state Government.
The officials are members of the state school feeding committee that were on a tour of schools in the state. The victims include Tijjani Mafe who is the chairman of the feeding committee in charge of the free feeding programs in public schools.

Amnesty: Boko Haram Gives FG Conditions



A leader of the Boko Haram sect, Muhammad Marwan, has said that if the Federal Government would not blackmail or deceive them as was done in the past, they will be  ready to avail themselves for dialogue as was initiated by the Northern Elders Forum.

 Marwan spoke  in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America (VOA) monitored in Kaduna on Tuesday, adding that  he was speaking on behalf of members of Jamatul Ahlus Sunnati lil Daawati wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram, on the call by Northern Elders Forum for amnesty for the sect members.

The Olympique de Marseille midfielder has been summoned by the French Football Federation’s ethics committee after he called Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva an ‘overweight ladyboy’ on Twitter. He also made other disparaging remarks of Silva’s weight and called him a transsexual.
Olympique Marseilles issued out an apology on behalf of its controversial player. ‘Olympique Marseilles and Joey Barton wish to apologise to Thiago Silva and his club for the inappropriate comments the English player made on social media in the past 36 hours,’ it said.
